Jensen targets more success after perfect start

RASMUS JENSEN burst onto the shale at the Abbey Stadium in fine style as Swindon’s latest recruit stormed to an outstanding 14+1 in last night’s 45-45 home draw against the Poole Pirates. Total Sport Swindon’s Ryan Walker got the thoughts of Jensen following the action.

Rasmus Jensen has quickly established himself as a favourite amongst the Swindon faithful after top scoring against Swindon’s local rivals the Poole Pirates last night.

Speaking following the 45-45 draw, Jensen admitted that it was a dream debut riding in Swindon colours.

“I can’t ask for a better debut that’s for sure,” said Jensen.

“First time i’ve rode at Swindon and that will be the same for a lot of the tracks having only rode at Peterborough and Ipswich before.

“The track wasn’t in the best shape but I made some good starts and hung onto the bike.

“Maybe my hopes are too high now for the next couple of runs now but we’ll take it as it comes,” he said.

A new track at the home of the Swindon Robins has already begun to produce some show-stopping racing at the Abbey Stadium this speedway season.

And apart from some teething issues that the track staff have had to deal with, Danish racer Jensen explained how the promise of a new track helped lure him to sign with the club.

“I don’t know how the old track was, but the shape of the track here is really good,” stated Jensen.

“It really suits my racing compared to the small tracks which aren’t my favourite. The track is one reason that I wanted to come here to Swindon.

“It’s really good to make the step-up to the Premiership and I’ve been wanting to do this for years.

“It’s great to finally get the chance to ride in this league. Every season since 2014 we’ve been talking so it’s great to finally make the move,” he added.
