Kennedy: Harrogate 'parked the bus' in stalemate

Boss Mark Kennedy insisted visitors Harrogate made the game “ugly and horrible” as they played out a goalless draw against Swindon Town.

Kennedy’s hosts had more shots and possession in the League Two contest at the Nigel Eady County Ground, but were booed off after having to settle for a stalemate.

And while head coach Kennedy admitted he was “slightly disappointed” with the visitors’ game plan, he gave credit to his opposite number Simon Weaver.

Speaking post-match, Kennedy said:  “It was a tough day all around, credit to Simon and his team, they made it a really ugly and horrible game and they took an eternity to take a throw-in, free-kick, or goal kick.

"They parked the bus, sat behind the ball, and I think they had 36 per cent possession.

"Football is about fine margins and they got clapped off and we got booed off and I get it.

"I thought it was a difficult day with how they set up and it was an incredibly difficult surface to play on as the pitch was dry as a bone.

"But tactically Simon did a brilliant job, it is very difficult to break a team down like that even if you are Real Madrid or Manchester City - I felt if we got an early goal then it changes the dynamic.

"I was slightly disappointed with their game plan but I get it after losing 5-1 (last time out), but they have made absolutely no attempt to lay a glove on us."

The point meant Town remained 21^st in the league table. They have registered just one win from 12 games in all competitions this season.

They host Bristol Rovers in the Football League Trophy on Tuesday (7pm kick-off).

Following that contest, Town have a reunion with former boss Michael Flynn at Cheltenham Town on Saturday (3pm).
