Kennedy pleased to see Smith back with group after 'serious illness'

Swindon Town boss Mark Kennedy revealed striker Harry Smith was back in training after overcoming a “serious illness”.

Former Sutton United man Smith, who joined the club in the summer, has not featured since being sent off in 1-1 draw at Barrow in the start of September.

But speaking ahead of Saturday’s home game against Doncaster (3pm), head coach Kennedy said: “Harry’s doing well in training so we are really pleased to have him back with us.

“It feels like he’s been missing for a long time for multiple reasons, so it’s great to see him back with us.

“He had a very serious illness, he lost a lot of weight and was out for a long time and unfortunately quite a few of our lads have had illnesses and in a really bizarre way, they’ve all lost considerable amounts of weight.

“Harry, particularly more than others but it’s good to see him back and he looks fit and healthy which is the most important bit.”

Smith has scored once in seven games since his arrival to the Nigel Eady County Ground, having netted at Crawley in the League Cup back in August.

Town are going in search of back-to-back League Two victories, having beaten Cheltenham away from home last weekend.
