Kennedy insists Swindon Town will stick to transfer strategy
Swindon Town boss Mark Kennedy stressed the club would continue to stick to their transfer strategy – despite their 4-0 humbling at home to Walsall last time out.
Town, who have added 12 fresh faces to their ranks over the summer, have until August 30 (11pm UK time) to add to their squad further during this transfer window.
Kennedy’s side are yet to win a competitive game since he took charge of the club over the summer, with a draw and two defeats from three fixtures in all competitions.
But speaking after Saturday’s loss, Kennedy insisted the club’s transfer process would remain consistent regardless of results.
“Winning today wouldn’t have got us a player any quicker on Monday and losing doesn’t get us a player either,” he said.
“We have done everything we can and we are waiting for clubs to come back to us and say ‘right, you can have that player now’.
“If I was to say ‘we have to get a player now’ then that would be an emotional reaction to your question.
“The process doesn’t change, our process is finished in terms of what we need to do.
“If we go to sign a midfielder, we haven’t rung one club, we are ready to go with three midfielders, so if a club says no then we can move on to Club B.
“It is not because we win or lose a game of football, the process is the process and it didn’t start with the start of the season, we had a meeting the other day about something we have been trying to do since April and that is long before I came to the club.”
Town are back in action with an away trip against Crewe on Saturday (12.30pm).
