Luke Norris has no complaints with Chesterfield's penalty antics in Swindon Town's draw
Swindon Town striker Luke Norris admitted he had no issue with the Chesterfield players attempting to put him off prior to his crucial spot-kick goal.
Norris was fouled for a penalty and then converted it deep into stoppage time to make it 2-2 with the last kick of the game on Saturday.
The striker, who is Swindon's top scorer this season with eight, has proved to be deadly from 12 yards this season as he has now converted five penalties this campaign alone.
He admitted that he was surprised to get a spot-kick in the first place as, in his view, he was needlessly fouled as Chesterfield panicked when leading 2-1 with the clock ticking down.
"I was quite surprised really, because the cross is quite deep, I'm struggling to get there and their lad's misjudged it, maybe thinking I'm a bit closer to it," Norris said.
"He's pulled us down, I think it's silly from his behalf because if he leaves it I'm not sure I'm going to be able to do anything with it anyway."
Norris stepped up and scored the penalty but it came after a long delay following distraction techniques from the Chesterfield players, but this was not something Norris had a problem with, in either sense.
"When you're down there fighting you'll do anything. They've struggled this year, they've come to Swindon, we're on a great run of form and they're winning 2-1 away.
"If I'm in their position, I'll do exactly the same, if not you'll try and do more, if you can take a booking for an extra 30 seconds.
"I know as a player, you just want to get the ball down and take it. Three or four minutes passes by and all of a sudden it gets longer and longer and longer and the referee delays it himself.
"You see it all the time where people are delayed and they end up missing, even Mulls [Paul Mullin] said 'clear your head' but I knew where I was going to go and I was glad to see it go in."
