Luke Williams pays tribute to Lawrence Vigouroux on night of keeper's 50th Swindon match

Lawrence Vigouroux celebrated his 50th match in Swindon colours in some style, saving a penalty and keeping a clean sheet in a 3-0 win over Rochdale, and his manager Luke Williams lauded the Chilean at full-time.

For the second match in a row, Vigouroux saved a penalty after Lyle Taylor was denied by the ex-Liverpool stopper on Saturday and Ian Henderson failed to find a way through on Tuesday.

"He (Vigouroux) is outstanding, the only thing that worries me is that he keeps doing this and we are going to lose him because he is top drawer and he is proving it every week and I hope he can stay with us a little bit longer," Williams said.

"If they (scouts) are not (watching Vigouroux) then they are not doing their job because you need to watch this boy - don't watch him too closely - he has got a long way to go, for sure.

"He is worth keeping tabs on I think."

Williams then added:

"I think those that know Lawrence will all say the same thing: that he has matured and grown up. He is a character and can be the joker in the pack which is something really important you need in the changing rooms but with that comes a responsibility because you have to stop being the joker at some point.

"You need to come out and punch balls out from the crowd and be able to take the ball from a corner and make big saves and stand up so you have got to be professional and focused all the time.

"I think that is what he has done, he has managed to maintain that status of being the joker but also a professional edge that is showing on the pitch."
