Championship side QPR go into the tie as clear favourites and will be hoping to dispatch of the Wiltshire club with minimal fuss, but Williams insists his side are more than capable of defeating the R's and causing history to repeat itself, after the Robins emerged victorious over QPR in the same competition three seasons ago.
Town will find themselves up against some rather familar faces, in the form of Massimo Luongo, Ben Gladwin and Grant Hall, each players who have donned the red of Swindon Town before.
"We’ve got the added advantage of knowing the real qualities of Ben Gladwin, Massimo Luongo and Grant Hall - players that we don’t want to play against," Williams told Swindon Town's official club website.
"We’d love to see them in our team but we don’t want to play against them. We’re aware of their qualities and how difficult they’ll be to play against but we’ve been there before. We played an incredibly strong team before and we overcame them that day so there’s nothing to say that we won’t do that again," he added.
The boss also hinted that some inside information had been passed on by Town midfielder Michael Doughty, who is currently on loan from the London based team.
While the regulations of the loan deal omit Doughty from tonight's fixture, the input of the midfielder has been valuable, suggests Williams.
"Obviously Michael (Doughty) has given us some insight," he said.
"We're pretty clued up as to how they’re going to be set up and how they're going to play. We played against Burton under Jimmy Floyd and I think there are some similar traits in there.
"They’ll know plenty about us so both teams will be well versed but once the whistle goes it will be down to the players to try to put into practise their respective game plans."
Swindon Town face Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road, kick-off 7.45pm.
Former Swindon Town boss Martin Ling will be commentating upon the match for BBC London Radio. You can check out Total Sport's exclusive interview with Ling, all about his Swindon exit, by clicking here.
