An overtime powerplay goal from Sheffield Steelers defenceman Ben O’Connor saw Great Britain to a 3-2 victory over Poland in Coventry on Sunday night.
It was their final warm up match ahead of the World Championships which start in Croatia on 17th of April.
Nottingham Panthers forward Robert Farmer gave GB the lead with a clever face-off play which led to him beating the goalie with a backhand shot.
Poland fought back to level and then took the lead with the man advantage, but Pete Russell’s side were not to be outdone.
Farmer was involved in the second goal laying the puck off for Jonathan Weaver who hammered home to put the GB side back in the ascendency.
With the teams unable to be split through three periods the game went to overtime and O’Connor let fly with a game ending slapshot which won it for GB.
Lyle will now travel to Zagreb as one of three netminders forming part of Pete Russell's national squad.
