MATCH PREVIEW: Swindon Town v Bradford City

SWINDON TOWN host promotion rivals Bradford City at the County Ground with Richie Wellens' side looking to extend their lead at the top of League Two. Total Sport Swindon's Rajan Hothi previews the clash.

A rotated Swindon side ran out 2-1 winners at Plymouth Argyle last time out, and inflicted just a second home loss of the season on the Pilgrims.

Eoin Doyle grabbed the winner with 15 minutes left, but he will not be able to feature against his parent club Bradford due to the agreement in his loan deal that prevents him from doing so.

Jerry Yates will likely lead the line for Town, after spending recent weeks out wide, and the Rotherham-loanee will be looking to add to his tally of ten league goals this season against an impressive Bradford back-line.

Diallang Jaiyesimi was one of the players who came into the side for the Plymouth game, and the 21-year-old put in his best performance in a Swindon shirt, levelling the game with a fantastic strike in the first-half.

While Bradford fans haven't been thrilled with performances, the Bantams come into the game with Swindon unbeaten in their last seven games.

Gary Bowyer's defensive style hasn't won him too many friends at Valley Parade, but a 1-0 win against struggling Morecambe last time out saw Bradford go to within a point of the top three.

A win against Swindon will see Bradford go three points behind Town with a game in hand.

Injury problems have caused manager Richie Wellens issues in the last week, and he confirmed that the injury sustained to Ellis Iandolo against Port Vale means he "will do well to get back this season" after damaging his ligaments.

However, Town have the added boost of Tom Broadbent being available for selection with the defender training Friday after recovering from a calf injury and illness.

While Bradford can boast the best home record in the division, they have been less than impressive on the road - winning just three of their 11 away games this season.

Frustrating draws away at the likes of Macclesfield, Leyton Orient and Carlisle has seen many fans question Bowyer's tactics, with Bradford not winning an away game since October against Morecambe. However, five clean sheets in their last six games has seen the Bantams hold the joint-best defensive record in the league.

Despite loaning out the divisions top goalscorer, Bradford have found it difficult to get any of their strikers firing this season with none of their players hitting double figures yet.

James Vaughan is the closest to breaking double figures, with nine goals. The 31-year-old netted a brace against Mansfield last Sunday.

Swindon's win against Plymouth gave them their first win against a top ten side this season, and Town will be looking to put another promotion rival to the sword on Saturday.

The absence of Doyle will no doubt be a huge loss for Swindon, but it gives Yates the perfect opportunity to help debunk the 'one-man team' tag that rival fans have used against Swindon this season.

With crucial games against the likes of Crewe and Exeter coming up in the next month, Wellens will be desperate for his side to bridge a gap at the top by beating their promotion competitors.
