Swindon lost 8-2 to Telford on Saturday but bounced back the following day against cash-strapped Manchester.
The Phoenix took the lead though, and quite early too, at 1:27, when Myles Dacres opened the scoring.
Jan Kostal levelled the game at 7:47 with his goal that was assisted by Tomasz Malasinski and Robin Kovar and almost two minutes later, 9:21, Taylor got the first of this three with Toms Rutkis assisting him.
At 11:04 Swindon began to earn some breathing space when Sam Bullas found the back of the net and he had Stevie Whitfield to thank for setting him up.
With less than a minute of the first period to go Rutkis scored unassisted to have the Wildcats 4-1 up after the first set of 20 minutes.
After just 40 seconds of period two Malasinski, fresh from scoring his 100th Wildcats goal on Saturday, notched 101 after good build-up play from Kovar and Rutkis.
Taylor scored his second and Swindon's sixth at 9:16, assisted by Bullas, and Kovar made it 7-1 at 37:20 - Adam Finlinson and Malasinski provided the set up.
Bang on 39 minutes Taylor scored his hat-trick goal to extend the score to an eye-watering 8-1, which is how period two concluded.
Ben Wood, of Manchester, restored a smidgen of pride for the desperate hosts at 43:52 but the Phoenix would not rise from the ashes this time and captain Kostal restored Swindon's seven-goal lead at 47:02.
Michael Stratford added his name to the scoresheet at 48:37, with Ben Netersell coming up with the pass before the goal on this occasion.
Rutkis finished off the scoring from a Swindon perspective at 48:56 but, despite being dominated practically throughout, Manchester would get the final word with a goal at 50:35.
