MATCH REPORT: Swindon Supermarine 1-6 Salisbury

Swindon Supermarine were thrashed 6-1 by local rivals Salisbury on Saturday, despite taking the lead.

Things looked promising for Marine when Brad Hooper fired them into to a 1-0 lead at Webbsood stadium but his effort in the 11th minute was as good as it got for Swindon as Salisbury roared back.

The Whites levelled the game 10 minutes later when Brian Dutton glanced a header into the back of the net from a corner and not longer after the match had been turned on its head.

A deep right-sided cross to the back post was met by a well-timed Justin Bennett volley which gave the Marine goalkeeper Connor Johns no chance and Salisbury had themselves a 2-1 lead.

In the second half Salisbury really took control.

With 54 minutes played, the lead was extended to 3-1 when Tom Whelan seized on Johns failing to keep hold of a shot from the edge of the area as Whelan composed himself and slotted home.

Tommy Wright got himself on the scoresheet when he finished past Johns after Taureen Roberts had a shot blocked and Bennett chested the ball to Wright who really could not miss.

It soon got worse for Marine, 15 minutes from time, when Roberts struck a left-footed volley into the bottom corner for what was arguably the goal of the game.

The scoring was completed in the 90th minute with Wright's second goal of the game.

Wright latched onto a long ball forward, rounded Johns, and passed the ball into the empty net for 6-1.
