Match Report: Swindon Supermarine 4-2 Barnstaple Town
Swindon Supermarine's assault on the Southern League Division One South and West continued with a convincing 4-2 win over Barnstaple Town.
Conor Waldon headed Supermarine into the lead after 17 minutes when he guided and in-swinging cross from the left but Barnstaple hit back straight away.
A long ball over the top of the Marine defence was latched onto by forward James Blake woh showed great composure to lob the on-rushing Connor Johns.
Waldon had the hosts back in-front though four minutes after the half-time break when he pounced onto a flicked-on corner kick to make it 2-1 from point-blank range and Marine then took Barnstaple to the sword, despite bizarrely going down to 10 men.
Just minutes after coming on as a substitute, Josh Parsons had to turn round and head for an early shower as he was adjudged to have slapped an opposition player.
Bradley Hooper converted a penalty to give Marine a two-goal cushion 20 minutes before the end, and, shortly after, Barnstaple found themselves a man down too when goalkeeper Steve Oliver handled outside of the area.
It was soon 4-1 to the home side after a swift counter attack that saw Conor Thompson break with pace and skill to tee up Callum Parsons who had a simple finish to increase the score further.
Barnstapble responded late on but it was not enough and Marine clocked up their third win on the bounce.
