Website 0330 002 1993Full-time: Swindon 3 Gillingham 3
90- Swindon really going for this. A scramble in the box sees Shade get a shot off and it deflects just wide of the post. 3-3.
89- Had to be a winner. Lavinier counters from a Gillingham free-kick and sends RHM through on goal, but his shot is saved. 3-3.
OFF: Jefferies
ON: Kashket
84- Swindon are down to ten, but they are the ones searching for a winner. 3-3.
81- Khan sent off for a second yellow for a tactical foul on the halfway line. 3-3.
79- Just when things were looking a bit desperate, RHM plays a wonderful fizzing cross and Austin gets ahead of his marker to power a header beyond Morris. 3-3.
GOAL! Swindon 3 (Austin 78') Gillingham 3
OFF: Brennan
ON: Minturn
OFF: Nichols
ON: Lapslie
OFF: Wakeling
ON: Darcy
71- Swindon sustaining pressure here. FBT plays a deep cross towards Austin, with arms all over him he wins the header, but it is comfortable for Morris. 2-3.
68- Hutton once again ghosts beyond Tutonda and chips the ball across, it is headed to RHM, but his control is heavy and gets cleared. 2-3.
62- That change sees Gillingham move to a back five to try and preserve their lead. 2-3.
OFF: Alex MacDonald
ON: Conor Masterson
60- The attendance here is 10259 with 961 away fans. 2-3.
58- I am not convinced that was a penalty either but Austin stepped up and just about squeezed his spot kick under Morris. 2-3.
GOAL! Swindon 2 (Austin 58' pen) Gillingham 3
57- Penalty for Swindon! Wakeling hits a shot that hits a hand from very close range. Not sure either were penalties. 1-3.
56- Brennan looks to be playing on but is moving very gingerly. 1-3.
54- Brennan is down injured and as he was trying to move he did not look at all comfortable. 1-3.
49- Khan weaves his way passed two defenders and takes a shot, but he is off balance and it goes nowhere near the target. 1-3.
48- Khan stings the palms of Morris with a good effort from 25 yards, but straight at the 'keeper. 1-3.
46- Khan a little lucky to still be on after he blasted the ball at Tutonda at close range after Austin had fouled the full-back. 3-1.
45- Timothee Dieng gets the game back underway. 1-3.
OFF: Jephcott, Williams, Jephcott
ON: Cain, Shade, RHM
Teams are back out.
It will be interesting to see who those three come on for. Williams has been one of two players to have played well in that first half, so my guess is Jephcott, Wakeling, and Iandolo.
Shade, RHM, and Cain all stripped and ready to come on.
Fair to say that Gunning went a bit crazy in the two weeks without a game and decided to try something. Just Khan in midfield was pretty disastrous and Swindon were overrun in a midfield Gillingham were trying to congest anyway. The penalty was a poor decision and that obviously changes things, but there were some very shaky foundations in that Swindon team.
Half-time: Swindon 1 Gillingham 3
45- Hutton gets down the side again and finds Austin, with the ball a bit behind him, he hits in the volley, but just wide. 1-3.
45- There have been lots of small details going wrong for Swindon in this first half. Simple passes played behind people, players miscontrolling the ball, underhitting passes. They need to be getting those things right. 1-3.
4 minutes added on.
43- Gillingham fans chanting "Swindon's a s-hole, I want to go home." Not sure Gillingham is much better, unless they are all from Rochester, which is admittedly lovely and I would quite like to be there myself.
42- It is nice to know that however Swindon try and play, it will always come back to Hutton beating a man and putting it in the mixer. 1-3.
41- Khan gets booked for a challenge a Shaun Williams. 1-3.
39- Hutton stands up a cross that Austin, takes down on his chest. Unfortunately the ball takes too long to drop and his shot went wide of the near post. 1-3.
38- Swindon are starting to ramp up the pressure again as Williams and Hutton are doing a lot of probing, but Gillingham are doing well to defend their area. 1-3.
35- Hutton's ball into Austin causes a bit of a scramble on the edge of the box, Swindon work it wide to Jephcott, but his pull back is easily cleared. 1-3.
33- After Gavin Gunning got a bit too excited on Football Manager last night and having had too many chats with Thiago Motta, Swindon are now back to a 4231 with Iandolo in midfield
31- Williams' corner finds Austin at the near post and his header is cleared off the line by a defender. From the follow-up corner, Lavinier blazed over the bar. 1-3.
26- The good aspect of Gavin Gunning's new age "position is a construct" tactics, are that Swindon do attack quickly with a lot of movement. But their final ball has been lacking since the first minute. 1-3.
24- Dieng booked for chopping down Wakeling in the Swindon half. 1-3.
19- We said before the game started that the team was tough to figure out and Gavin Gunning looks to be playing one in midfield, just Saidou Khan. He has been shaky and it is giving a lot of space away when he loses it. 1-3.
17- We have also seen the penalty back and it definitely hits FBT in the face. 1-3.
16- Gillingham are really get into the faces of Swindon and it is creating big holes in the defence. The home side are shell-shocked and need to try and slow this down. 1-3.
13- A free-kick deep on the left is whipped in and Nichols got a slight touch on it to help it on its way into the far corner. 1-3.
Goal. Swindon 1 Gillingham 3 (Nichols '13).
12- The Swindon fans are instantly very anti-Paul Howard, the referee. This has been a frantic start. 1-2.
Goal. Swindon 1 Gillingham 2 (Wright 9')
8- I didn't really see it, but I believe this is for handball on FBT, when the ball looked to strike him in the face. 1-1.
Penalty to Gillingham.
3- An immediate reply as Nichols played the ball in from the right and found Dieng at the back post to head home. 1-1.
Goal. Swindon 1 Gillingham 1 (Dieng 3')
1- The perfect start for Swindon. After a decent spell of possession, Hutton whipped the ball in towards Austin, it was flicked away but Williams picked up the loose ball and volleyed it home. 1-0.
GOAL! Swindon 1 (Williams 1') Gillingham 0
1- Charlie Austin gets us underway. 0-0.
The players are on their way out.
The 1000 Gillingham fans here are creating a fair amount of noise pre kick-off
The Swindon team is now getting tough to work out, here is my best guess:
Brynn
Brennan FBT Iandolo
Hutton Khan Williams Lavinier
Wakeling
Jephcott Austin
Interestingly, Swindon are the ones warming up in a back five, which they switched to in the second half against Grimsby. Iandolo looks to be the one dropping into defence.
Gillingham are currently warming up with a back four, despite using a back three last time out. This probably means Shaun Williams will be pushing up into midfield.
Jodie Morris and Ed Brand have both been spotted arriving at the County Ground, so that one looks like a done deal as was being reported.
On the reverse side of the MacDonald absence, Ellis Iandolo being in the team points towards him staying at Swindon. Looking at the bench, Cain is probably the only one who could naturally play in that position, so getting rid of Iandolo would mean someone else would have to come in. It is shaping up to be a busy few days at the County Ground on a few different fronts.
So all of a sudden this is a much more daunting fixture for Swindon. Lots of money and proven League Two players have come in at Gillingham and they have won their last two. A third straight win would likely take them out of the relegation zone, so this will not be straight forward.
You have all probably worked this out, but no MacDonald probably means he is off and that leaves the Swindon bench looking a touch thin with three youth players on it.
Unchanged for Gillingham, so a nice and simple 3412:
Morris
Wright Ehmer McKenzie
Tutonda Williams Jefferies MacDonald
Dieng
Nichols Hawkins
Gillingham XI:
Morris, McKenzie, Wright, Ehmer, Tutonda, Williams, Dieng, Jefferies, MacDonald, Hawkins, Nichols
Subs: Turner, Alexander, Masterson, Adelakun, Lapslie, Kashket, Gbode
As always I will now try and figure out how they will line-up
Swindon Town XI:
Brynn; Hutton, Brennan, Blake-Tracy, Lavinier; Khan, Iandolo; Wakeling, Jephcott, Williams; Austin
Subs: Copland, Darcy, Cain, Hepburn-Murphy, Shade, Minturn, Kanu
Good afternoon everyone. After two long and cold weeks Swindon are back in action against Gillingham. They are a Gladwin light of the previous game, but Jake Cain could be in line to make his debut.
