Website 0330 002 1993A very odd game that. For long stretches Swindon were slow and flat, then they had bursts of extreme high tempo play where they looked like they would score with every touch but failed to convert a string of late chances. I need to take some time to figure out how I feel.
Full-time- Swindon 2 Hartlepool 1
90- Iandolo booked for diving in the box. Didn't see it myself.
90- OFF: Darcy
ON: Aguiar
S'house sub.
90- Killip is performing miracles. Khan again charges to the edge of the box and slams a shot goal wards. Killip just pushes it into the side netting, causing many to think he had scored. 2-1.
6 minutes added on *obligatory where did that come from*
89- HOW IS THIS 2-1? First Wakeling goes clean through on goal, but a defender prods the ball against his keeper and it deflects away to Khan and he runs into a great goalscoring opportunity, only for the keeper to make a save.
85- That one was a penalty. Saidou Khan comes steaming into the box and gets to the ball ahead of the defender who chops him down in the box. Ref says corner. 2-2.
80- Darcy gets a yellow for kicking the ball away.
80- AND SOL BRYNN GETS BIG. Hartlepool should have equalised as a low cross was flicked back to Sylla, his shot towards the corner was beaten away by the flying figure of Brynn. 2-2.
79- Swindon go close again. Gladwin floats in a corner and finds Baudry in space, his header was well gathered low by Killip. 2-1.
74- OFF: Odour, Umerah, Featherstone
ON: McDonald, Robinson, Sylla
Two ex-Swindon players at the same time.
74: OFF: Luke Jephcott
ON: Ellis Iandolo
72- Hutton causing problems again. This time his cross finds Jephcott at the front post and he nudged it on and Wakeling was agonisingly close to getting on the end of it at the back post. 2-1.
68- Ben Gladwin rakes a crossfield ball perfectly into the path of Hutton, he crosses first time to Jephcott but he can only manage to send it over the top.
Williams comes off for Shade.
68- The game has gone back to how it was in the early stages. Swindon are passing it about but without any real tempo and are struggling to create.
65- I just want Louis Reed.
62- Close again from Swindon. Gladwin floats a cross to the backpost that Khan heads back across goal, but Kllip just gets there before a Swindon player can get on the end of it. 2-1.
61- I love it when Jephcott suddenly becomes Roberto Firmino, dropping off and linking play.
Also Clayton managed to deflect a ball that was surely sending Odour through on goal to let Blake-Tracy shepherd it away from goal. 2-1.
60- Williams is having a day. His caressed pass splits the defence but is only just too far for Wakeling to get on the end of. 2-1.
58- Euan Murray gets booked for a foul on Jephcott.
56- Not loads of updates at the moment, but Frazer Blake-Tracy just ruined a man's life. The defender seemed to have won the ball of him before he nudged it one way and quickly nipped the other to keep going. Astonishing stuff from the hyper man set. 2-1.
54- Remeao Hutton gets booked for a very aggressive tackle.
An attendance of 8527 here today, 123 away supporters, which is just such a pleasant number. Thank you Hartlepool.
49- A seemingly innocuous cross from the right was scythed over the bar by Baudry. Far more scary than it needed to be. 2-1.
47- Swindon with their first chance of the half as Wakeling nearly gets on the end of a deep cross. 2-1.
Callum Cooke gets us back underway with Swindon shooting towards the Town End.
The teams are back out and we will shortly be back underway. Once Reed is finished having a deep chat with Callum Cooke.
I still think that the Swindon midfield is missing Reed. There are so many occasions, especially against teams who sit deep, where Khan plays a short pass or takes too long when Reed would quickly be able to switch the play and make Swindon more dynamic in possession.
What a strange half that was. It was essentially flat the whole time but there have been three goals. Swindon look off the pace aside from Gladwin and Williams. Hartlepool have had plenty of chances to break and have had openings in front of goal. The tempo and concentration needs a marked improvement after half-time.
Halt-time: Swindon 2 Hartlepool 1
45- I didn't really see it but I still want the penalty. Williams picked up a loose ball and charged into the box, there were a few defenders around him and he went down under pressure, but the ref said no. 2-1.
45- Baudry that was outrageous. The defender scoops the ball over the Hartlepool defence, Williams runs in behind but drags his shot on the turn wide of the mark. 2-1.
4 minutes added on *obligatory where did he get that from*
43- Khan takes far too long to get the ball out to Hutton, but it eventually gets out there. He gives it to Wakeling and he powers passed his man to get a shot off which is deflected away. 2-1.
41- Spot of trouble up at Elroy Farm. Hartlepool counter well and have Swindon outnumbered at the back, but Blake-Tracy deflected away the cross with his big ol' head and Town recover. 2-1.
37- The game should be level. Callum Cooke waltzes straight through Swindon and it takes some proactive keeping from Brynn to stop him. 2-1.
34- OFF: Mouhammed Niang
ON: Bobby Patterson
Yet another early change for Hartlepool, not getting loads of luck.
34- Credit to Hartlepool, they have come to play here. Swindon are far from their best and haven't really controlled the game as well as they should. 2-1.
30- Wakeling goes close. Two Swindon players get in eachother's way at the far post but confused defending sees the ball deflect off Wakeling and just wide of the far post. 2-1.
Well that could make things a little more entertaining. Sloppy defending from Baudry allows Umerah in behind him and his cut back finds Clarke Odour to tuck home. We have a game again.
Goal! Swindon 2 Hartlepool 1 (Odour 28')
26- OFF: Mark Shelton
ON: Reghan Tumilty
You have to assume Shelton just didn't fancy it.
25- Chance for a third. Swindon easily work the ball to the left, Blake-Tracy gets to the goal line and pulls it back into the middle. Gladwin cannot quite work a shot before Darcy gives away a foul.
23- Short break in play as a Hartlepool defender has gone down injured. You have to assume the message from Scott Lindsey will be, get the ball to the right and get it in the mixer.
21- Well all of a sudden everything seems to be fine. This was a nothing game for 12 minutes but Hartlepool are giving Swindon too much space out wide and they are punishing them for it. 2-0.
That was from the first page of the playbook. Gladwin nudged a pass onto Hutton, he skipped beyond his marked and his cross to the near post let Jephcott escape his marker and flick into the far corner. Fans must have been delayed in as suddenly there seem to be some.
GOAL! Swindon 2 (Jephcott 17') Hartlepool 0
16- Could have been a penalty there. Gladwin again with acres of space on the right and he crossed towards Williams but this time Hartlepool made sure he wasn't free and wrestled him over, but the ref didn't see it. 1-0.
Well that goal came from absolutely nowhere. Ben Gladwin found space on the right and curled a cross low to the back post for an unmarked Williams to tap into the net.
GOAL! Swindon 1 (Williams 12') Hartlepool 0
11- Anthony Joshua in that Lucozade advert wouldn't want anyone here to show up to his show as they have no energy. Crowd and players are in first gear if not neutral. 0-0.
10- First chance falls to the visitors. Clarke Odour has space on the right and comes inside, shooting from the edge of the box and forces Brynn to parry it away. 0-0.
7- To reiterate, it is like an undertakers in here and no one has offered me a drink. I hope no one knows about my interview on Yorkshire Television.
The pace of the game has been incredibly slow with neither side having come remotely close to goal.
5- The County Ground is practically silent from the start here. Feels like the game is behind closed doors. 0-0.
4- It is looking like Swindon are more 4231 than 433 to start here. Gladwin playing deeper alongside Khan. 0-0.
Ben Gladwin gets us underway.
They have got the world's most cautious 7-year-old boy driving the ball car today. Very slow driving.
Here come the players.
It is also quite interesting that Marcel Lavinier misses out today, he supposedly played very well on Tuesday but has once again been omitted from the squad. Someone has to miss out but he made a good start to life at Swindon before his injury but seems far away from Lindsey's plan at the moment.
There are still just over 10 minutes until kick-off, but the crowd is looking rather sparse right now.
I bet Brennan is having a good time right now. Whilst everyone else is warming up in groups, he is having a one-on-one session with Gavin Gunning putting him through his paces.
Louis Reed and Jamie Day were just getting involved in a very low scoring game of panna. Defensive stuff with neither side looking to give up easy chances, good foreshadowing for what Hartlepool are about to try.
It is a bit surprising that Lindsey has gone with an unchanged line-up, given that Swindon have a very tough week coming up against Bradford and Mansfield. You would have thought he would have used this game as a chance to give one or two players a rest.
It has nothing to do with this game, but Dean Henderson you little dancer.
The best news from those team sheets is that Chris Maguire is once again not involved for Hartlepool. Alongside Robinson, he was also guaranteed to score so that is big for Swindon.
Back to the Swindon team, that is an unchanged squad from last weekend, so no place for Tomi Adeloye. It also means Reed remains on the bench, which is becoming an increasingly concerning decision for his long term future with the club.
Alright folks, it would appear that they will be lining up in a 5221 formation.
Killip
Odour Lacey Niang Murray Ferguson
Shelton Featherstone
Cooke Crawford
Umerah
Also if Scott Lindsey doesn't know how they are lining up then I sure as hell don't, but I shall do my best to figure it out.
Hartlepool United XI:
Killip, Ferguson, Niang, Murray, Shelton, Featherstone, Umerah, Cooke, Crawford, Lacey, Odour
Subs: Letheren, McDonald, Paterson, Taylor, Sylla, Tumilty, Robinson
Theo Robinson scoring off the bench is nigh on a guarantee.
Swindon Town XI:
Brynn; Hutton, Baudry, Clayton, Blake-Tracy; Darcy, Khan, Gladwin; Wakeling, Williams, Jephcott
Subs: Brann, Iandolo, Reed, Aguiar, Shade, Roberts, Brennan
As was looked at yesterday in the preview, Swindon have not lost to Hartlepool since 2009 and have lost just six times against them in their entire history.
Good afternoon everyone. Bottom of the table Hartlepool United are the visitors to the County Ground today as Scott Lindsey looks to follow up last weekend's win against Colchester. Let's agree that the Bristol Rovers game didn't count.
