Michael Flynn is remaining open and honest with the players he has told can leave

Michael Flynn has said he is still looking to be honest with the players he has said are free to leave Swindon Town this summer. Total Sport’s Joe Acklam spoke to the manager after Swindon’s 5-0 win over Melksham Town.

Flynn said earlier this summer that he has told several members of his first team squad that they are free to leave the club, but so far only the injured trio of Harrison Minturn, Reece Devine, and Ronan Darcy are yet to feature in pre-season.

However, the former-Newport County manager did say that there is yet to be any movement towards the exit door for any of the players he is looking to move on.

Flynn said that despite informing several players that they are able to depart the County Ground this summer he is still looking to treat them with respect.

He said: “I have been open and honest with them [the players who were told then can leave] and I haven’t played any mind games with them or said one thing and done another.

“I have been straight with them, they know where they stand, I am somebody who will always treat people with respect as long as they give it back.

“The players know that they are available to leave, but they also have to be professional and get themselves in the best condition they can be in for if someone comes in for them.

“Sometimes when you are honest, they don’t like it and they react in different ways, but this lot haven’t at the minute.

“They are still working hard as the situation is what it is.”
