Nick Morris' Somerset omission disappoints Alun Rossiter

Nick Morris has been ruled out of Swindon’s trip to his former club Somerset in tonight's 7.30pm meet, despite the Robins originally believing he would feature.

The young Australian will be riding for Polish club Wroclaw in their challenge match at King’s Lynn with the M&S Van Rental Robins using rider replacement to cover his absence at the Oaktree Arena.

Team boss Alun Rossiter has revealed how "he is far from happy" with the situation and feels both the club and rider have been backed into a corner.

Rossiter said: "I’m far from happy with this situation, and if it was a league match there is no way we would have backed down in this.

"The only reason we’ve allowed this to happen is to protect Nick’s interests. Nick has had a gun put to his head to force him to ride for his Polish club, and if he had raced for us tonight there was a serious risk he would have lost his team place with Wroclaw.

"Nick is the piggy in the middle, he’s the innocent victim unfortunately and now we just have to look forward to a good night at Somerset.

"Hopefully there will be a massive crowd there and the lads all get some good laps under their belt to warm up for the start of the Elite League season.”
