ON-THE-WHISTLE MATCH REPORT: Swindon Town 1-0 Forest Green Rovers
An untidy but timely late goal from Luke Norris meant that Swindon recorded their third win on the bounce against struggling Forest Green.
Norris toed in right on the line with 12 minutes left to keep up Swindon's impressive winning run, despite the 90 minutes at the County Ground being largely unenventful.
Keshi Anderson had a shot from the left side of the box that was well saved by Bradley Collins, but the ball squirmed away from the Chelsea loanee and into the path of sub Paul Mullin.
Mullin tried to stab it home, but his attempt was somehow blocked, and Norris was next in line to have a go, but unbelievably that stayed out as well.
Swindon top scorer Norris eventually got his goal with a second dab over the line.
The goal was so bizarre that Norris and Swindon fans briefly stopped celebrating because they thought it had been ruled out, but they continued once it had been confirmed it stood.
It was another first half at the County Ground that did not see a great deal of entertainment, however Swindon were the better of the two sides.
Town had both of the two shots on target and, in fairness, they were both good efforts that Forest Green goalkeeper Bradley Collins had to be at his best to save.
First, after 20 minutes, Kaiyne Woolery broke down the left of the box and cut the ball back for Keshi Anderson whose first-time shot from around 12 yards out was brilliantly denied by Collins who dived to his left to parry it away.
There was a sense of deja vu in stoppage time. Luke Norris this time had space on the left of the box, and again it was Anderson that was the recipient of the pass.
For a second time, Anderson hit it first time and Collins arched his body to knock it behind for a corner, which came to nothing.
In fact, the first half was most notable for a serious-looking injury to Forest Green defender Farrend Rawson, who required six minutes of treatment and replacing after a clash of heads with Swindon left-back Ellis Iandolo.
Forest Green had the first shot of the second half, but Christian Doidge's effort on the turn was low and tame, so Reice Charles-Cook had no difficulty in saving it.
Swindon had a brief penalty shout just before the hour when Anderson went over in the box, but despite claims from Town players and fans for a penalty, referee Dean Whitestone carded Anderson for diving.
Woolery had Swindon's next effort, which sailed wide from 25 yards, but that was considered a major incident as Town failed to impress in Wiltshire again.
The ex-FGR man had another go soon after, but again shot wide from distance after a solo run.
Swindon were fortunate the goal came eventually, in whatever circumstance, as the game did not really merit someone going home with three points.
