ON-THE-WHISTLE MATCH REPORT: Swindon Town 1-0 Notts County
Luke Norris 47th-minute goal earned Swindon Town their first home league win since October.
Norris gave Swindon the lead two minutes after the restart when he slid in from close range following good work down the left from Keshi Anderson, who provided the killer pass.
Swindon thought they had the lead a lot earlier when Amine Linganzi turned in a left-sided Ellis Iandolo free-kick, but Congolese midfielder Linganzi was flagged offside.
Despite blasting 'Glad All Over' over the PA system, the County Ground had to wait for Swindon to break the deadlock.
Aside from the disallowed goal, the first half was a low-key affair, with both sides unable to really test either goalkeeper.
Reice Charles-Cook, who was back in for Lawrence Vigouroux for the hosts, only had an easy Jon Stead header that was straight at him to save.
County keeper Branislav Pindroch was slightly busier, but was still not called into much action.
A drilled Norris free-kick that Pindroch initially spilled was the closest he came to conceding in the opening 45, but he smothered onto the ball before Matt Preston could spring onto the rebound.
Linganzi had a header from an Iandolo corner easily claimed and Anderson had a shot blocked, but that was all Swindon created in the first half.
Despite the early second-half goal, the match did not improve, although Swindon came close to a second through Kaiyne Woolery.
A poor County free-kick ended up landing at the feet of Woolery who charged down the left but, when off balance, he scewed his shot wide of the far post.
Pindroch was called into action again with just over 20 minutes remaining, as he had to be agile to push away a rasping 25-yard free-kick by Iandolo.
Swindon should have had the game out of sight late on, as their change to 3-5-2 made them a threat on the counter.
First, Town broke with Woolery, who fed Anderson, but Anderson's touch was too heavy and his shot one-on-one with the keeper was saved.
It was close to Deja Vu soon after. This time, Norris picked out Anderson with a brilliant flicked pass and Anderson offloaded to Woolery, but again the touch was too heavy and County cleared their lines.
Notts County piled the pressure on late in the game, but Town managed to deal with the late threat, with goalkeeper Reice Charles-Cook tipping a last-gasp header over the bar.
