ON-THE-WHISTLE MATCH REPORT: Swindon Town 1-0 Port Vale

Bradley Barry's 47th-minute winner earned Swindon Town their first win in four matches and, in the process, made it two victories from two at the County Ground.

Barry gave Swindon the lead just two minutes into the second-half after a rather dour opening first 45 with a rifled effort into the top corner from Michael Doughty's intelligent build-up play.

It initially looked like Doughty had taken too long on the ball on the right-hand side of the Port Vale box but instead he took a touch inside his man before nutmegging a second defender to send Barry on his way who had enough room to lash Town infront.

Despite the early goal after the break Town still could not fashion many clear-cut chances, however the likes of Yaser Kasim and Doughty controlled the midfield and the latter was always looking to force the issue.

Jordan Stewart replaced debutant Nathan Delfouneso with 15 minutes of the match to play and immediately caused Vale problems, but his chance ended with him slicing an effort across the face of goal that was far too far ahead of the on-rushing Darnell Furlong.

Port Vale never really looked like scoring themselves though with their best opportunities coming before the half-time whistle.

JJ Hooper had two big chances. The first of which looked a nailed-on goal but his snap-shot volley from a deep left-sided cross was palmed out for a corner by Lawrence Vigouroux and moments later Lloyd Jones charged down a goal-bound shot.

However, late on subsitute Rigino Cecilia flicked on a loose ball but Vigouroux was equal to it to win a much-needed three points for Town.
