ON-THE-WHISTLE MATCH REPORT: Swindon Town 2-2 Yeovil Town
An 89th-minute Alex Fisher goal denied Phil Brown his first home win as Swindon Town manager, despite two Matt Taylor goals.
Taylor broke the deadlock after just 11 minutes, when he turned in a low left-sided Kaiyne Woolery cross after good build-up play and a pass by Scott Twine.
Lewis Wing levelled the contest out of the blue in the second half though when his long-distance strike flew into the bottom corner with 21 minutes left.
Veteran Taylor had Swindon back in the lead three minutes later however when his effort from the right-hand side of the box deflected off a Yeovil defender and into the far corner.
It was not enough though, as Fisher snatched a point late on for the Glovers.
Yeovil had the game's first shot on target when Fisher tried his luck from range, but his effort in the third minute just dribbled well wide.
Youth academy graduate Twine, who made his first Swindon start tonight, headed a left-sided Matt Taylor cross narrowly over the bar three minutes later.
The Glovers tried to hit back, but they were limited to another long-range effort, this one by Otis Khan was straight down the throat of Stuart Moore, who saved with ease.
Twine then had a golden opportunity to score his first professional goal, however he lost his composure in front of goal and could only divert a pinpoint Taylor cross wide of the post.
As a contest, the game largely petered out from there on in for the rest of the half, however there was a concern for Swindon captain Olly Lancashire and Yeovil goalkeeper Stuart Nelson as the two clashed during a Taylor free-kick.
Nelson was replaced at half-time.
The final effort of the first 45 went the way of the visitors, and it was a good go too, but Wing's fierce volley was tipped over the bar my Moore and the keeper caught the resulting corner.
As for the second half, it started in near-identical fashion as the first, as after three minutes a Yeovil man, this time Rhys Browne, shot well wide.
Twine had Swindon's first attempt post-restart, but his shot from a tight angle was easily saved by sub keeper Jonny Maddison.
Up until the hour, both sides were restricted to half chances. Swindon's best efforts fell to Ollie Banks. First, he was allowed space to run, but his low drive was deflected wide.
From the resulting corner, which dropped to him, he tried a volley that was blocked, and then a second effort by the same man was also blocked. The corner came to nothing.
Shortly after, Yeovil broke away and the ball was worked to winger Otis Khan. He looked odds-on to score, but could not get the ball out of his feet and some impressive Kyle Knoyle defending got it behind for a corner, which also came to nothing.
It was the Glovers who had the most exciting chance of this period though, when Omar Sowunmi headed a right-sided Khan free-kick narrowly wide, which worried the Town faithful briefly.
Wing then fired Yeovil level with 21 minutes to go, with a goal out of nothing, but Taylor hit back again for Swindon in the 72nd minute.
Swindon looked good for the win, and pressed for the third goal to kill the game off, but ended up being punished down the other end, and were unable to find a third, despite five minutes of stoppage time being played.
The result means Swindon have now drawn four games on the bounce.
