One of the French trio may return, admits Luke Williams

As Swindon Town closed out their League One season with a 3-0 home victory against Shrewsbury Town at the County Ground on Sunday, there was a noticeable omission of three of the club's French players, who manager Luke Williams admits may not return to SN1.

The trio in question, midfielders Drissa Traore, Jeremy Balmy and Fabian Robert were each absent from the Town line up after travelling back to their native France.

When questioned about their futures, following the full-time whistle, Luke Williams told local media: "Discussions have got to be had, regarding the futures of the boys."

The three have had mixed seasons in the red of Swindon Town, with Traore and Robert starting slowly before finding form, while Balmy saw his opportunties on the pitch limited.

The no nonsense ball-winning approach to the game of Traore won the affection of many a Town fan, as the midfielder struck up strong playing relationships with the likes of Yaser Kasim, Louis Thompson and Ben Gladwin throughout the course of the campaign.

Likewise, Robert found himself recieving the appreciation of the Town faithful following a strong spell in the team after the appointment of Martin Ling in late 2015.

The tricky playmaker found his stride at the County Ground and soon began to please fans with his nimble footwork and eye for a killer pass.

The lesser used of the three, Balmy made little impact during the 2015/16 campaign and failed to show the promise exhibited in fits and starts during his time at Oxford United.

Commenting upon the futures of the French trio, Williams admitted: "I think it's fair to say that they won't all be back here, but I think there is a possibility that we will see at least one of the boys back at the County Ground."

Traore and Balmy made headlines recently when they found themselves embroiled in an incident regarding the consumption of laughing gas, live on a social media streaming application, along with team mate Brandon Ormonde-Ottewill.

The club duly suspended those involved and issued independent fines.
