Ormonde-Ottewill boosted by Swindon Town's recent form

Swindon defender Brandon Ormonde-Ottewill is enjoying a rich run of form recently, on both a personal and team level, as the Robins continue their unbeaten run.

The former Arsenal trainee has caught the eye in recent weeks with marauding performances from full-back, showing both willing and ability to beat a man.

Ormonde-Ottewill's crossing and delivery into the box has also been commended, as the 20-year-old has been responsible for a variety of Swindon's attacking threats on the counter.

Speaking recently to Swindon Town media, prior to the encounter with Doncaster Rovers in early March, Ormonde-Ottewill admitted there was a good feeling circulating around the County Ground with confidence high.

"Obviously there were some fixtures where we knew it was going to be a tough game but I think there's a lot of belief now in the side and we've got a lot of good players here," Ormonde-Ottewill said.

"We've still got a lot of remaining games to go and we can put together a lot more wins," he added.

Since then, Swindon have gone on to collect a further four points, courtesy of a comprehensive win over Doncaster Rovers and a last gasp, dramatic draw against fifth placed Millwall.

Ormonde-Ottewill explained the change in fortune for Swindon has simply come about because of the current mentality within the Robins' camp, along with an emphasis on attacking play.

"I think it comes from the staff. We work on attacking play in training and we take that into the game because we've got the players to do it.

"We've got a lot of good players and it's about mixing that with defensive play," he added.

Under the current system employed by the Robins and manager Luke Williams, Ormonde-Ottewill is enjoying attacking freedom in the left wing-back position, being actively encouraged to bomb forward at every opportunity.

The pacey defender acknowledges that this role, although difficult, suits his style of play, and will hopefully help him to build upon his personal goal haul after breaking his duck against Sheffield United in January.

"It's a tough role because it's up and down all game but it's definitely a good role to play for the team because I get in a lot of crosses and I get shots off," Ormonde-Ottewill said.

"I can start a bit higher but also you've got to get back and do your defensive duties. I love taking their full back on and trying to help the team get into their final third of the pitch but also, when the play breaks down, you've got to sprint back," the full-back explained.

Though happy with his game and recent performance levels, 'B.O.O' admits that goals are indeed one thing he is looking to add to his arsenal.

"If I can get a few more goals this season that will be really handy. I just have to continue getting in those positions and try to get off a few more shots," Ormonde-Ottewill added.

Swindon Town are back in action this Saturday, as they travel to the midlands to face Coventry City. Kick-off 3.00pm. The attendance is expected to be a record for a Swindon Town away game this season, brought on by the STFC Trust's #5ktoCoventry initiative.
