Perre and Crisp to Suit Up for Wildcats in 2018/19
Swindon Wildcats are thrilled to announce the completion of our netminding line-up for the forthcoming season. Joining Renny Marr between the pipes will be a new face in Tyler Perre and a more familiar face in Michael Crisp.
Tyler joins us after graduating from the Okanagan Hockey Academy, where he impressed after joining them from junior leagues in North America where he iced for the Blyth Academy Cougars. His career started in Swindon working his way through the academy system. The 17-year-old had an impressive season for the OHA where he posted a save percentage of .921%.
Alongside Renny and Tyler, Crispy will once again be part of the line-up for the upcoming season. Having last iced for us in the final season of the EPL. His shining moment that season was in the opening game of the playoffs where he was forced into starting at late notice due to an injury to Stevie Lyle. Last year he iced for the NIHL2 Wildcats, where he posted a .885 save percentage.
For the upcoming season both Tyler and Michael will be sharing the role of back-up. Tyler will be on two-way deals with the NIHL2 side. They will rotate the second netminder spot for the NIHL1 side with Crispy playing for the NIHL1 side when Tyler plays for the NIHL2 team,
“I’m delighted to have the services of both Tyler and Crispy available to me this year. Tyler is a great up and coming netminder and trained with us a lot last year. He’s big and he’s agile, he knows what we are about, and he knows he will have to work hard throughout the season. Crispy also is a good person to have around, the boys on the team love him and he loves being a part of the Wildcats. His enthusiasm rubs off on the rest of the team and that will be a big thing for us.
They will both get the opportunity to be with the senior side and it will be great experience for Tyler playing regular games with the NIHL 2 team” Aaron Nell, Swindon Wildcats Head Coach added.
The club would like to thank the services of Matt Smital for all his efforts last year and would also like to thank Mobile Motoring Maintenance who sponsored him last season. Matt is a very talented up and coming netminder who needs to be starting games all season long, we wish him the very best of luck for the upcoming campaign.
