PLAYER RATINGS: Swindon Town (0) v (1) Shrewsbury Town

SWINDON TOWN suffered their first home defeat to Shewsbury since 1995 as Harrison Chapman's 25-yard strike wrapped up all three points for the visitors. Read below as Total Sport Swindon's Ryan Walker gives his Robins player ratings following defeat at the County Ground.

GK: M Travers (6.5)

Made some good saves throughout the first-half and barely had anything to do in the second. Could do little to stop the goal after being beaten by a brilliant shot that went in off the post.

RB: R Hunt (7)

Performed well in both his attacking and defensive duties. Contributed to attacks well putting some decent balls into the box and was also solid in the right-back position producing some important tackles and interceptions. A good performance despite defeat.

CB: C Masterson (5)

Looked competent at the heart of Swindon’s defence and made some good interceptions before being pulled off injured early in the match.

CB: A Odimayo (7)

Odimayo has played at right-back and centre-back but in my opinion, it’s clear his best position is in the central defender role. Today he did well to deal with the threat of Main and was strong in the air as he won numerous aerial duels. Made some big tackles and used his strength well throughout.

LB: D Thompson (7)

Another impressive outing from the attack-minded full-back saw Thompson play some neat one-twos on the edge of the Shrewsbury box before putting a handful of dangerous crosses into the box. Was busy defensively down his side but rarely looked untroubled.

CM: J Lyden (6.5)

Was bright in the first-half and should’ve opened the scoring 30 seconds before Shrewsbury scored after being found unmarked inside the Shrewsbury penalty area but instead decided to pass when a shot would’ve been the better option. Got on the ball quite a lot but failed to do much with it at times. Subbed in the second-half.

CM: M Palmer (6)

Similarly to Lyden, Palmer enjoyed quite a lot of the ball but didn’t do much to create dangerous situations for Swindon’s attackers. Enjoyed a mixed afternoon with his deliveries into the opposition box with some crosses troubling the defence and others just awful.

RM: J Payne (5.5)

Started on the right-wing but was permitted to roam from his position as he tried to find gaps in the Shrewsbury defence. Enjoyed some good link-up play with Swindon’s strikers at times but overall didn’t do much to impress.

LM: H Hope (5.5)

Looked bright at times throughout the first-half and was effective in playing one-twos with Thompson to get in behind. Drifted throughout the second-half and was subbed late in the match.

ST: B Pitman (7)

Had to deal with a lot of long balls up to him today and was arguably Swindon’s best player as he won countless aerial duals and went close to scoring on a couple of occasions with headers that were put narrowly wide.

ST: J Garrick (6)

Made his debut after signing on-loan from Swansea and enjoyed a mixed afternoon. Started well with his one-touch passing key in getting Swindon in behind the Shrewsbury defence with his pass setting up Lyden for a great chance in the first-half. Faded as the match went on and was subbed in the closing stages.

SUBSTITUTIONS

S Twine (6)

Positive when on the ball but didn’t get on it much as Swindon opted to play long balls instead. If Swindon wants to get the best out of Twine then they need to play to his advantages otherwise he is wasted.

T Curran (5.5)

Replaced Masterson early in the game after the Irishman was forced to withdraw due to injury. Curran looked nervous on the ball however grew in confidence as the game went on. Picked up a yellow card.

C Missilou (5)

Came on late in the game to make his debut and looked solid in midfield.

T Omotoye (5)

Replaced Garrick with 15 minutes to go and had a chance to test the Shrewsbury keeper in the dying minutes but his touch was poor and the ball went out for a goal-kick.
