PLAYER RATINGS: Swindon Town (1) v (2) Crewe Alexandra

SWINDON TOWN failed to impress as Crewe Alexandra dominated proceedings at the County Ground in a 1-2 away victory. Total Sport Swindon's Ryan Walker gives his Robins player ratings following the defeat.

GK: Luke McCormick (6)

Couldn’t have done anything for either of the goals and was let down by his defence. Produced a spectacular diving save at the end of the first half to keep the deficit to just two.

RB: Luke Woolfenden (5)

Struggled in one-on-one situations and was frequently caught out of position. Got forward well and was a threat from set-pieces but too often gave the ball away.

CB: Dion Conroy (4)

Started in midfield but was quickly pushed back into defence after shoddy play put Swindon on the backfoot. Was outplayed by Crewe striker Chris Porter and got away with bringing him down in the penalty area in the second half.

CB: Tom Broadbent (4)

Returned to the starting side for the first time since Swindon’s away loss to Stevenage at the start of March and looked rusty against a high-pressing opposition. Sloppy with his passing and too often played the ball backwards.

LB: Kyle Knoyle (6)

Switched to left-back after playing at right-wing-back and is one of few players who deserve credit for their performance. Playing out of position is always difficult but Knoyle defended well and helped stop dangerous attacks down the right flank.

CM: James Dunne (4)

Producing a dogged display in which he covered lots of ground but lacked quality. Failed to stamp his authority on the match and struggled on his return to the starting side.

CM: Michael Doughty (5)

Shown glimpses of his quality but cut a frustrated figure when his teammates made the wrong decision. Scored Swindon’s penalty and attempted to fire shots on goal. Was dispossessed when taking too long on the ball in the second half but luckily the resulting goal was ruled offside.

LM: Kyle Bennett (7)

Wellens described him as the one loan player who cared today and he was relentless in trying to get Swindon on the front foot. Played some dangerous balls into the box but was let down by a lack of movement from his attackers.

RM: Keshi Anderson (4)

Offered very little like so many of his teammates and lacked his usual creativity. Went on a few good runs in the first half but too frequently ran into trouble and was dispossessed. A poor showing.

ST: Theo Robinson (4)

Has dropped off after making a bright start to his move to the County Ground and put in a below-par performance against Crewe. Can’t fault him for trying but was poor in holding up play and was let down by a poor first touch.

SUBSTITUTIONS:

Kaiyne Woolery (5)

Replaced Ali Koiki in the first half but did little to change Swindon’s attack. Attempted to make positive runs but lacked the quality needed to get Swindon back into the game.

Ben House (N/A)

Won Swindon’s penalty after coming on but did very little apart from that.

Marc Richards (N/A)

Introduced late into the fray with Swindon chasing the game but barely touched the ball.
