PLAYER RATINGS: Swindon Town 2-2 Lincoln City

SWINDON TOWN needed a Michael Doughty second-half brace to avoid defeat against League Two leaders Lincoln City at the County Ground earlier today. Total Sport Swindon's Ryan Walker gives his Robins player ratings following the dramatic 2-2 draw.

GK: Lawrence Vigouroux (4)

Should’ve done better to stop the first goal with a poor attempt beating him at his near post. Was helpless to stop McCartan’s wonder goal on the stroke of half-time. Not his best performance in a Swindon shirt.

RB: Kyle Knoyle (6)

Was substituted at half-time undoubtedly suffering from the stamp on his calf that saw Andrade shown a straight red. Was resilient in one-on-one situations as always and got forward well to supply balls into the box.

CB: Luke Woolfenden (6)

Dealt with the big physical presence of John Akinde well throughout and endured a relatively quiet game after the first sending off.  Won the majority of his aerial duals and has settled into a defensive partnership with Conroy well.

CB: Dion Conroy (6)

A mixed game for Conroy saw the defender display a range of passing to help get on the front foot but was also poor with some of his clearances, most notably the effort that fell to McCartan who subsequently volleyed home. Produced some solid last-ditch tackles to keep Swindon in the game and certainly appears more comfortable in defence after an awkward spell of playing in midfield.

LB: Matty Taylor (3)

A poor game for the experienced pro saw him arguably at fault for the games opening goal after failing to close down Shackell quick enough. Set-pieces were well below the usual standards associated with Taylor and the 36-year-old won’t look back on this match with much fondness.

CM: Canice Carroll (7)

Impressed on making his home debut and was a constant presence in the engine room of midfield for Swindon. Was confident on the ball and wasn’t shy in demanding his fellow teammates around the pitch. Got forward down the wing well in the second half and was intelligent with his cut-backs to give Swindon attempts on goal. A solid display from the new signing.

RM: Jak McCourt (7)

Seems to have had a recent resurgence under Richie Wellens and was a big goal threat for Swindon against Lincoln. Got forward well to pen the Imps back in their own area and was unafraid to fire shots in on goal. Somehow his driven attempt on goal in added time managed to stay out to deny Swindon a comeback victory.

LM: James Dunne (6)

Another dogged display from Dunne saw him disrupt play well denying the opposition opportunities to get into their rhythm. Ran tirelessly both in defence and attack to help his side stay in the game. Produced a brilliant save from Vickers in the 30th minute with a fantastic half-volley attempt nearly opening the scoring.

ST: Kaiyne Woolery (5)

Partnered Marc Richards up top in Town’s 4-4-2 formation and shown glimpses of quality despite not being a significant goal threat against Lincoln’s robust defence. Ran some good lines in behind the away sides defence but should’ve stretched Lincoln’s backline more especially after the two red cards.

ST: Marc Richards (4)

A big presence in the opposition area for Swindon but was easily managed by Lincoln’s defence. Movement in the box was poor and was non-existent in the match at times. Hard to remember him having a shot on goal.

LM: Keshi Anderson (8)

Ran more than any other player on the pitch for Swindon and was a constant threat against impressive opposition. Brought the ball out from deep on numerous occasions running straight at the heart of the Imps defence. Won Swindon the penalty after working his way into the box well before being hacked down.

SUBSTITUTIONS:

Michael Doughty (9)

Came on for Knoyle at the halfway stage and appeared a different player to the frustrated figure fans have become so used to in recent games. Was quick with his passing on the ball to create countless opportunities and scored the two goals to bring Swindon level. Doughty possesses the quality to help Town dominate matches but needs to start displaying it more frequently.

Scott Twine (N/A)

Introduced late on to try and help Swindon find a winning goal but didn’t have enough time to make any significant contribution.

Ali Koiki (N/A)

Came off the bench to make his Swindon Town debut with just over 20 minutes left. Hugged the left touchline to stretch Lincoln and put some good balls into the box.
