PLAYER RATINGS: Swindon Town 2-3 Luton Town (EFL Trophy)
Swindon Town's EFL Trophy journey was ended by Luton Town on Tuesday night and Total Sport's Benjamin Wills gives his player ratings from the match.
Will Henry: Made a costly error for Luton’s first goal just days after returning from an England camp but other than that was composed as his development continues - 5
Darnell Furlong: Misplaced a catalogue of passes in a centre back role that he is still getting used to. Car crash of a failed diving header interception played a big part in Luton’s third and final goal - 3
Conor Thomas: Not his best shift as he continues his learning spell as a centre back - 4
Rhys Sharpe: Lacked a bit of fitness on his Swindon debut after a lengthy trial at the County Ground. The new left-back caused a few dangers with crosses at the other end of the pitch though - 5
Brandon Ormonde-Ottewill: Floated about in all sorts of positions, varying from usual left-back, to right midfield to even just behind the strikers. Did not settle into any of them, hauled off before the second half - 4
Anton Rodgers: Captain for half of the night, Rodgers never really got going in Swindon’s midfield. One of three players subbed off at half-time - 4
Johnny Goddard: Assisted Luke Norris’ goal with a clever pass but other than that struggled to unlock the Luton defence further. Given man-of-the-match by sponsors - 6
Jake Evans: The Swindon youth academy member, who usually plays in centre midfield for the development sides, did not make quite the impact at right-back that Tom Smith made on the other side against Bradford, but did not have a bad game either - 5
Sean Murray: Attempted many ‘Hollywood’ passes – some came off, some didn’t - 5
Nathan Delfouneso: Delfouneso was his usual self, lots of effort but not a lot of luck in front of goal - 5
Luke Norris: Scored only his second goal in Town colours to give the Robins the lead and made a number of determined runs before he was subbed at half-time - 7
Substitutes:
Ellis Iandolo (on for Rodgers ’45): Scored the second of Swindon’s goals with a sensational 30-yard strike – 7
Jermaine Hylton (on for Ormode-Ottewill ’45): Hylton, who had his loan spell at Guiseley terminated a month prematurely earlier in the day, made plenty of positive runs but there was no real final ball as his return to full fitness begins following a hamstring problem - 4
Jordan Young (on for Norris ’45): The young (pardon the pun) Scotland youth international was very bright in the second half, with intelligent passing and incisive give-and-go moves with his teammates - 6
