Player Ratings: Swindon Town 3 Blackpool 2
Swindon Town picked up another three points on Saturday, a Nicky Ajose hat-trick picking apart the Tangerines and sending them back to the Fylde coast freshly squeezed. Take a look at Total Sport's player ratings from the clash.
Lawrence Vigouroux – Will not be happy with conceding in the opening moments, but came back well and put in some important saves for the Robins. Needs to work on upping the clean sheets in tandem with the back line. 6
Nathan Thompson – A tight game from Thompson, who is coming back from his injury period strongly. Slipped in the first half and almost set Blackpool through on goal, but recovered well to clear which set the bench mark for his game. 7
Jordan Turnbull – A solid if unmemorable performance. Didn’t do much of note, but that usually suggests defenders are doing something right. 6
Jamie Sendles-White – Drafted into the starting XI at the eleventh hour following injury to Rossi-Branco, Sendles-White gave a fine account of himself. Playing as part of a back three, the debutant was solid in the challenge and didn’t shy away from the occasion. 6
Bradley Barry – Seems to relish the wing back role and certainly has the work rate to fill it. At times sloppy in possession, but always eager to work in clever positions to deliver crosses for the likes of Obika. 6
Brandon Ormonde-Ottewill – Has improved his crossing game exponentially in recent weeks. Never afraid to take on his man and looks increasingly dangerous out wide. 7
Drissa Traore – The returning Traore quickly resumed business as usual in the centre of the park. Despite looking a shade rusty at times and robbed of possession in key areas, his overall game was okay, but nothing spectacular. Later replaced by Louis Thompson. 5
Fabian Robert – The Frenchman consistently looks like the creative spark who can flick the switch for Town. His craft on the ball is unlike those around him within the attacking ensemble and he showed this with various neat flicks and touches. 6
Michael Doughty – An industrious performance from the QPR man, who looked to get about the pitch and make his mark on every tackle. An acceptable showing. 6
Jon Obika – Wasn’t the big man’s best game in a Town shirt. He played a pivotal role in Ajose’s third and Swindon’s winner, but that aside the rest of his game passed reasonably quietly. 6
Nicky Ajose – A fine showing. Ajose was clearly feeling in the mood against the Tangerines and it was clear for all to see. His goals oozed natural poaching ability, sending him within one goal of the top of the scoring charts. Town will be well served should his form continue. 8
Substitutes
Louis Thompson – Came on to replace Drissa Traore in the final third. Lively on the whole. 6
Ellis Iandolo – Replaced Robert and looked creative from the off. Has the capabilities to be a consistent Town player, now just needs the opportunities to prove it. 6
