PLAYER RATINGS: SWINDON TOWN 0-0 OLDHAM ATHLETIC

Swindon Town failed to score as Oldham Athletic held on for a 0-0 draw at The County Ground. TotalSport Swindon’s Ryan Walker gives his Robins player ratings.

Luke McCormick: 7

Didn’t have much to do in between the posts for Swindon today but collected aerial balls well when crosses came in. Let down by his distribution at times but another good performance.

Luke Woolfenden: 7

Played at right-back and had a solid match. Defended well by winning his aerial battles and stayed calm when put under pressure by Oldham’s wingers. Didn’t get forward often but Brown will be happy with his performance.

Olly Lancashire: 7

Started his second consecutive match back from injury and put in a captains performance at the heart of Town’s defence. Organised the back four well and dealt with the threat of Miller well throughout the game.

Sid Nelson: 6

Partnered Lancashire well in defence and was rarely troubled by Oldham. Had good special awareness throughout the game and cleared crosses into the box well. Some panicky clearances at times but had a solid all-round match.

Matty Taylor: 6

Shown red late on for bringing down Christopher Missilou when the attacker was through on goal but was a challenge that had to be made to keep Swindon in the match. Played well throughout with some good long-range passing but delivery from set-pieces was poor.

Steven Alzate: 8

Fresh off the back of scoring away against Yeovil, Alzate endured another brilliant performance at The County Ground. Ran the show in the second half with some silky footwork often kick-starting Town’s attacks. The only thing missing from his game was a Swindon goal but impressed once again in the absence of Doughty.

Toumani Diagouraga: 7

After a poor start to the season, Toumani Diagouraga finally appears to be up to full fitness. Controlled the midfield area throughout today’s match and regularly won the ball back for Swindon. Was quieter in the second half but a good performance as he continues to improve.

James Dunne: 5

Endured a mixed performance against Oldham but overall was just not good enough. Won the ball back at times with some good challenges and pushed up the pitch well in attack. But too often gave the ball away with sloppy passing.

Elijah Adebayo: 6

Shifted out to the wing once again to accommodate Marc Richards and wasn’t very effective against the Latics. Ran tirelessly to try and find space on the wing but didn’t add much to Swindon’s attack. Definitely is better when played through the middle.

Marc Richards: 5

Led the line for Town today but was too often non-existent. Linked up well with his fellow attackers at times but didn’t manage chances on goal and lost his individual battles against the Oldham defence.

Keshi Anderson: 7

Used his pace well to stretch the Oldham backline and should have scored in the 64th minute only for his shot to be brilliantly blocked. Played well with Alzate to create chances and was picked as man of the match.

Substitutions:

Jermaine McGlashan: 7

Came on with energy and pace to help try and get Swindon the goal they craved. Found space well but was poor with his final balls.

Jak McCourt: N/A

Didn’t have enough time to make an impact but fluffed one promising chance well wide.
