Swindon Town's Iraqi midfielder Yaser Kasim has been attracting the attention of teams in the top flight of English football, according to Robins chairman Lee Power.
The interest had become public knowledge in recent weeks after Power took to a BBC Wiltshire fans' phone-in to confirm, to his surprise, that teams in the Premier League had been making their interest of Kasim known to the club.
The rumour mill began to whir as the ever temperamental January transfer window got into full flow. Kasim is out of contract with the Robins in the summer, meaning the current window would be the opportune time to sell the player whilst ensuring a transfer fee is received.
Power told the BBC: "Swansea were at a game I believe, and we always have a look at the list of people, so Swansea were there and also West Ham was there at a game.
“We don’t say they are looking at Yaser, but we make sure we have a look to see what scouts are there and they were senior people, so we’ll just wait and see.
“He had a decent game and we’ll see what happens with him.”
The two Premier League parties are experiencing contrasting fortunes of late, with Slaven Bilic's high-flying West Ham sitting pretty in sixth place in the country's elite division, having only lost one game in their previous five.
Swansea meanwhile find themselves hovering above the danger area, precariously poised in 15th place and only four points clear of relegation. The Swans have additionally recently parted with central midfielder Jonjo Shelvey, who made his departure to Newcastle United last week.
After an indifferent start to the current 2015/16 campaign, Kasim has recently started to regain glimpses of the form which saw him receive such widespread praise during the 14/15 season.
After several shake-ups around the club, included the comings and goings of managers Mark Cooper and Martin Ling, Kasim's recent form under the tutelage of Luke Williams is promising for the Robins if they are to achieve a strong end to the season.
Kasim began his playing days at the academy of Tottenham Hotspurs, before dropping down the football league. Any fee Swindon Town were to receive for the potential transfer of the Iraq international would represent a profit, as the number eight joined the Robins on a free transfer from Brighton and Hove Albion.
