PRESS CONFERENCE LIVE: Bristol Rovers v Swindon Town

Good afternoon and welcome to Total Sport Swindon's live blog as we bring you updates from John Sheridan's Swindon Town press conference as his side travel to face Bristol Rovers tomorrow in the latest round of League One fixtures. Join our reporter Ryan Walker from 12.20pm as he speaks to both the stfc manager and Paul Caddis.

1:16PM

That concludes today's press conference.

1:16PM

Sheridan on players missing team meeting yesterday:

"It's just a simple fact that they are all on WhatsApp, it was a 10:10am meeting and all the players were there apart from them.

It was three players who would be starting tomorrow and I don't know if they will now.

I just think it's today's footballer and if there are three players who can't read a WhatsApp message then I don't know."

1:14PM

Sheridan on team quality:

"I think if we get people fit then I am confident then we can get out of relegation.

There are one or two teams who are getting a couple of wins around us but we are in a group with about 8 teams trying to stay up."

1:11PM

Sheridan on injury circumstances:

"We have had a lot of injuries and I try not to blame it but the centre-back position has had a lot of injuries for us.

When loans are recalled that is just the risk you take with some of them. You just have to take it on the chin."

1:09PM

Sheridan on fans discontent:

"The fans have every right to have those feelings but I am giving 100% to turn things around here.

Why would I want to walk away? I'm not going to resign and I'm in a good job.

The only way I can turn things around is to win football matches and that's what I'm going to do."

1:08PM

Sheridan on Bristol Rovers:

"We had a video showing players the Bristol game and what they should expect and three of the players were late.

I regard that as a disciplinary matter and it has affected my team selection for tomorrow. They should know the importance of the game."

1:06PM

Sheridan on his intensity:

"I see Guardiola, Klopp and every manager getting intense when their teams aren't doing what they want.

That's part and parcel of being a manger and even the best managers in the World get intense. If they do it then I don't see a problem in me doing it."

1:05PM

Sheridan on managerial style:

"I've managed for 15 years and have done very well. I'm a good manager you know and I manage the way I manage.

I don't have to change for people and have been successful in what I've done. People won't agree with me at times but probably 95% of players who played under me have enjoyed playing under me.

I'm honest and will always give players what they need."

1:03PM

Sheridan on sideline shouts:

"I'm seeing things and I'm making myself to vocal at times. It's the way I've grown up as a player and with the different managers around me, football has changed.

I'm not surprised you could hear me shouting because the stadiums are empty and quiet. My language isn't being disrespectful and I can hear managers shouting things like that every week.

It's just what goes on in football."

1:01PM

Sheridan on recent performances:

"I don't think there has been progress because we aren't getting points and climbing the table in the way I would like us to.

We are conceding goals and giving ourselves a mountain to climb. In the Portsmouth game we conceded from a free-kick and against Wigan it was similar but we got through it.

The penalty should never have occurred and we shouldn't have given away a penalty in those circumstances. These are things that are occurring too many times."

12:58PM

Sheridan on injuries:

"Masterson is a long-term injury and talks are ongoing with QPR as to who would be better at looking after him.

It's quite a serious injury and he needs to focus on getting fit and recovering.

It looks about a 12 week injury so he will likely miss most of the remainder of the season.

Jordan Lyden is a short-term injury and will be out for about a week.

Tom Broadbent and Ellis Iandolo are back in training. Anthony Grant is off with concussion after getting banged in the head in training yesterday."

12:56PM

Sheridan on Joe  Wollacott:

"I'm very pleased to get him in and he did well at Forest Green when he was there.

Mark Cooper spoke highly of him and he was keen to come here from Bristol City.

It's a big game for him and he's looking forward to it"

12:54PM

Sheridan on Travers departure:

"Travers got finalised yesterday and he didn't really know what was going on. There wasn't much we could do about it because he is Bournemouth's players.

We were looking around trying to get someone in to play for Saturday and with it being late we were worried but I'm pleased to get Joe in."

12:53PM

John Sheridan has now joined us.

12:47PM

Paul Caddis has now left us and we are waiting for John Sheridan.

12:46PM

Caddis on past twelve months:

"Personally I haven't enjoyed this season and it wouldn't matter if we were second in the league because I hate not playing with fans there.

I enjoy football with fans and I don't enjoy not having fans there.

When you're growing up and you dream of scoring in a cup final you think of the fans and when we can have them back I will be one of the happiest."

12:44PM

Caddis on Sheridan tactics:

"You get managers that are massively into tactics, some managers are into working on formations and managers are all different.

We do stuff on the training pitch working on shape and we do analysis in the morning to go over games.

If I become a manager myself then there is something you take from everybody, and I will take a lot from John Sheridan as well."

12:39PM

Caddis on players speaking to Sheridan:

"A lot of the senior players have conversations with the manager quite regularly but there is a line and certain lines that you can't cross.

We respect the manager and we have daily talks with the manager.

We need to improve or else there is one place we are going."

12:38PM

Caddis on Sheridan sideline calls:

"That's football and you hear that a lot in football.

Managers do different things, some say it in the dressing room and some say it out on the pitch.

I don't mind it. I don't think the lookout is that important, it's about the players performing on the pitch so he is going to be frustrated.

We're all grown men and that is part of life and of course it comes across more aggressive when someone is shouting and there is a microphone near them.

We have to do better on the pitch and demand more from each other."

12:35PM

Caddis on Bristol Rovers:

"We go to Bristol understanding the importance of the game and I would love the fans to be there.

Players like myself, Scott Twine, and Archie Matthews need to try and instil the importance of the game on others.

We need points not performances."

12:34PM

Caddis on team performances:

"I've watched a lot of the games myself and it's not a nice recipe conceding goals and not scoring.

We've got to continually work hard and we have to start believing more that we can get out of this position.

I want to be back in the team and try to install some belief."

12:33PM

Caddis on own form:

"It's down to the manager to pick the team, but I have that self-respect to work hard every day and continue to be a good teammate.

I've been on the bench the last couple of games but I'm a footballer and want to play football."

12:32PM

Caddis on injuries and departures:

"It's part of football and we're not feeling sorry for ourselves.

It's not ideal for us, especially for the manager and it's difficult but we can't lie down and cry about it.

We need to turn performances into points."

12:31PM

Caddis on training today:

"It was a good training session today, it was lively and I think it's the same squad from the other day.

We understand the position both us and Rovers are in and we understand the importance of the game.

Our new keeper Wollacott was in this morning and he looks good."
