Website 0330 002 1993That is all for your double press conference, now we move on to Saturday for the big day.
Tomi Adeloye on watching the team:
Even while we were drawing there was no panic in the dressing room. We are not in our full stride yet and when we are we will be rolling teams over.
Tomi Adeloye on his role in the squad:
I feel like I was a massive part last year and here I am competing because we have a squad that can challenge. There is a lot of talent here and nothing is guaranteed but if I do what I can then I will score loads of goals. Shade came on with a point to prove and he made it, when it is my turn I am confident I will do that.
Tomi Adeloye on being patient:
It is definitely difficult. I had a lot of conversations saying that I felt fine but the staff made sure I stuck to the schedule. I felt I could come back to training after a week, but with the scan that was never going to happen.
Tomi Adeloye on injury:
It was a grade 2 tear and I have used it as an opportunity to get myself into the best shape possible. I feel great and hopefully I can kick on.
It was a lot of gym work and power lifting, I don't think i have done those things so much and it has put me in a good place.
Tomi Adeloye on making his comeback:
It was not the way I thought I would do it. It was mostly about getting the minutes and with two extra men they were always going to break us down. I felt good and strong and hopefully I can continue my progress.
I asked Lindsey about his full-backs and scoring goals:
Scott Lindsey on the women's game:
I would welcome it to happen more often. It is important we bring them to the front and unite the club.
Scott Lindsey on Carl Larriman again:
I don't know how long he is going to be with me, there was no agreement on that, just for as long as it is working. He has great knowledge and I spoke to him a lot before he came in. He is very good for me and helps me with things I might have missed as it is tough to see everything.
Scott Lindsey on playing bottom of the league:
The challenge is everyone expecting us to win, we have to earn it. They are fighting for their lives already and need the points just as much. Potential banana skin possibly.
I don't need to say anything more as they understand what they need to do. I will give them messages of how I want us to start and reminding them of the tactics.
Scott Lindsey on the double header:
It is important we win anyway, but giving the women's team a good atmosphere to come into and make people want to stay is very important and I will be watching it myself.
Scott Lindsey on his mentor:
Carl is some I have known for a long time and has great experience with 26 years in the Premier League. We see the game the same and is largely in the background but gives me his views to help me out. We also want someone in the stands with a different view. We have spoken about me sitting in the stands, but I am used to being at pitch level and that is how I see the game. To add to the team and have someone who is removed with a different angle can only be good.
Scott Lindsey on knowing his team:
I am fairly settled but we are playing a lot, so it might have to change. I am mindful of that but we can't take any games for granted.
Scott Lindsey on Hartlepool:
I don;t even know their formation because he has changed formation in nearly every game, which makes it harder to prepare without the ball. Keith Curle is an experienced manager and has been promoted and I am sure we will have to be at our best.
It doesn't come into it that they lost 6-0 as it is a different competition, we lost 3-0. They made a lot of changes and it will be a different team that we play.
Scott Lindsey on his wingers:
I think we look at it on how many crosses our full-backs are putting in as if they are putting them in then it is successful. You look at the games we have played, should we have scored more? Yes. We are below xG and should be scoring more but we are still a work in progress and are constantly working on our attack.
Scott Lindsey on Wakeling:
I think he can play there. One of his best performances was Grimsby and he was outstanding, he did a defensive shift and caused problems. We are asking him not just to stay wide, neither are we asking the other wingers, and become a second striker. For us it is 3 forwards as opposed to one forwards and two wingers. He has a slight hip problem but should be ready to go on Saturday. His distance covered is off the scale and is good for us out there.
Scott Lindsey on injuries:
MacDonald is the main one where we are waiting for it to settle down before his injection. So we are probably a week from that.
Devine picked up a little bit of a quad so will be back in training next week and RHM is 6-8 weeks away.
Scott Lindsey on Bristol Rovers:
I have watched it back I think the Aguiar one is difficult to gauge because of the camera. I know Ricky wouldn't stamp on someone, the ref sees what he thinks he sees but I think it is harsh. With Brennan I think they probably are two yellows. I think the second one is because of where it is, he gives the ref an easy choice. From both of their points of view they showed some naivety, they are both trying to impress but a bad night because of it.
I think the game changed and leading up to half time I enjoyed the game and thought we were good. Second half was just difficult and it is always going to be. We have to move on.
That is your Paulton preview, so Scott Lindsey will be with us shortly.
Megan Attenborough on having to progress the game:
We always have to show what we are about and it will always be judged more than the mens game. The main thing this weekend is showing how good we are and how go we are to watch as a team and make people realise they can play football.
Megan Attenborough on the growth of the game:
It has changed so much just from being on main channels and normal times, having it every where about women's football and how games at Wembley get packed out.
Megan Attenborough on how significant the game is:
It is definitely significant but we don't want the pressure to get to us so we are looking to act normally. We are still going about our every day lives, so we are just going through that until game day.
Megan Attenborough on FA Cup:
Getting into the first round would be a big deal and knowing who we could play later down the line. We want some easier teams first so we can get the prize money, but it is very exciting.
Megan Attenborough on Paulton:
It is a big opportunity for them too and they won't roll over and let us do what we want so we have a big fight on our hands.
Megan Attenborough on the crowd:
It is really important as it will show what the crowds can do for players, a lot of us love playing in front of the crowd. We want this to move on from staying around because they were watching the men to actively coming to watch us.
Megan Attenborough on the week:
Tuesday we were all excited and ready for the game, Everyone was more excited and bouncing around and I am sure that will be the same tonight but we also have to remain focused on making sure we do the right things.
I think that thinking about the next game will be the biggest task for us.
Megan Attenborough on America:
The fitness level is on another level, playing sports is like a religion and especially where I was in Texas.
Megan Attenborough on female role models:
I think it is definitely going that way after the Euros. We can even tell that here as how much the Euros helped that and girls who grow up now will idolise female players.
Megan Attenborough on her journey:
I played all my life growing up, I was always at centre of excellences and came into the womans team when I was 18. I went to America on a scholarship and when covid hit I came back. I always loved the environment here. I am a big Liverpool fan, so Steven Gerrard was one I always watched and he plays in my position.
James Lally on this becoming more normal:
I am trying to normalise it, it is great that we are here but it is just another game. Wherever we are playing, getting to the first round is a big deal.
James Lally on giant killings:
We haven't focused too much on them, we know what we have to do. It is about showing the fans here that we are worth coming to watch. The prize money has gone well up in the FA Cup this year so there is enough for the players to go and fight for.
James Lally on nerves:
You would have to ask them about that, I am not seeing it too much. That is probably still to come. We are trying to make it as normal as possible and are showing them the facilities later today to help them.
James Lally on playing at the County Ground:
We played here before and had a crowd of around 350 and a few weeks ago 200, so hopefully we can smash that.
James Lally on Paulton:
I know about them as they are in the same league as our development side. The onus in on us to demonstrate that. I am sure they will come and play their part, but it shouldn't add too much pressure. Ultimately it is up to us to demonstrate why we are two divisions above. They are high pressing and good in transition, we are expecting the same and they haven't made too many changes this year so it should be similar. We are hoping to take advantage of our hopeful higher technical quality.
James Lally on being part of the men's club:
Really pleased, we had Clem at one of our games and he had a chat with us. Things have moved quickly and I imagine a lot behind the scenes is still going on but we take it in our stride.
We are run by volunteers, coaches are volunteers and until recently players paid to play. Getting a more professional set-up will help us push towards tier 3 and 4.
James Lally on keeping normality:
We have got a plan that we work to at training, and then we do diffferent blocks of work, looking to future games and just continue with that.
James Lally on excitement:
In terms of training it is no different, outside of that this is new and we wouldn't normally do pre-game press conferences and all the rest of it.
It is the Swindon Women's team up first as speak to head coach James Lally and club captain Megan Attenborough ahead of Paulton Rovers visiting SN1 in the FA Cup.
Good afternoon everyone. Slightly earlier today as we have a double header of press conferences to coincide with the double header at the County Ground this Saturday.
