Website 0330 002 1993Borrell on the difference in quality between City and Swindon:
"You know better than me that this is the oldest national football competition and there is a lot of history where lesser teams beat big opponents. The competition creates a great atmosphere and a lot of enthusiasm where everyone is trying to make their town or city proud.
"There is obviously a difference in terms of quality of players but these are the kind of games where everything gets very close because of the FA Cup being something special. This is a title that as players and staff we are very proud to have won in the last 6 years and for us it is very important.
"I think it will be a very close game and we have to be prepared for that."
Borrell on challenges Swindon present:
"It is a team who we have watched several games of including the recent win over Northampton. They like to play the ball out from the back and are quite aggressive. We have to be ready for the top challenge and expect a very tough game."
Borrell on those players unavailable:
"It is not for me to say who is unavailable. Right now I don't want to mention them because I may forget one. It isn't for me to say.
"To fill in the squad and to be able to travel we have had to bring in some players for the second team but there has also been an outbreak in that team as well."
Borrell on likelihood of match going ahead:
"We have prepared for this game and we keep going this way. If tomorrow the match is not possible then that is out of our reach. We are prepared to play the game and are ready for tomorrow.
At the end of the day all clubs are suffering and we are trying to cope with it as best as we can. We have gone back to the same protocols at the start of the pandemic to try and minimise the risk. We have to test every day and almost everybody is suspecting who will test positive. There is uncertainty around this but we are coping with it."
Borrell on team selection for tomorrow:
"This will be one of the easiest we have had to decide because we play with those available and we want to keep playing as much as we can. At this moment we can fill the team but I don't know what will happen in the coming days."
Borrell on Covid update:
"We have had a covid outbreak and at the moment we have 7 players and 14 staff unavailable so it is quite a big outbreak. Pep has said he is fine but fortunately hasn't got a lot of symptoms and we are permanently in touch."
Rodolfo Borrell has now joined us.
Pep Guardiola's Manchester City are defending Premier League Champions and currently sit top of the Premier League table with 2nd placed Chelsea 10 points adrift. City haven't lifted the FA Cup since the 18/19 season when they dismantled Watford in a 6-0 thrashing.
So whilst we wait, let's take a look at the challenge facing Swindon Town as Ben Garner's Robins look to cause one of the biggest FA Cup upsets in the history of the tournament...
We are expecting Rodolfo Borrell to sit down in front of the press at 1.30pm and will be bringing you live updates throughout today's press conference.
We were set to speak to City Manager Pep Guardiola, however after recording a positive Covid-19 test, the Spaniard will now miss today's press conference and tomorrow's match with 7 first-team players also isolating. Instead Assistant Coach Rodolfo Borrell will take charge of tomorrow's clash and he will be speaking to the media shortly.
Good afternoon and thank you for joining me, Ryan Walker, for today's Manchester City press conference ahead of their trip to Swindon Town in the FA Cup tomorrow evening.
