Website 0330 002 1993Garner on midfielders at Swindon:
"Jayden Mitchell is a forward and I certainly wouldn't class him as a midfielder because he can play wide, central or a ten in behind and is a very attacking player who can create and score goals.
We want competition but we want that group where everyone is part of the process. We want a close-knit group where everyone contributes.
It's not just about the players who start the game and if we are going to do well this season that is really important for us."
Garner on
"The start has been pleasing in terms of performances, consistency and establishing a clear identity of what we are as a club.
I think we deserve more points but if you had said to me when I walked through the door we would have four points from three games and I would be disappointed with that then that would be a fantastic sign for me as it shows how quickly we have progressed.
The next two weeks are huge for us and after the next two weeks I think we will be stronger going into games."
Garner on Swindon's attack:
"Without a doubt this team currently has enough goals in it.
If we hadn't been creating chances or hadn't looked like scoring then I would have a few concerns.
But we are creating chances, getting in great positions but just haven't been as clinical with our finishing as we would like.
We've been a bit unlucky with some very good goalkeeping but we can certainly be a bit more ruthless with our final ball and our execution.
I'm pleased with where we are and if you look through the team, Tyreece Simpson will score goals, Harry McKirdy will score goals, Ben Gladwin will score goals, Jack Payne will score goals, I could go on and on.
We're not pinning goals on one position and as a collective we have goals in the squad. If we can get us one player in who can give us a bit more in that regard then we will do that."
Garner on Salford expectation:
"Not in our eyes it isn't a free-hit. We respect every opponent and the analysis before every game and the preparation his consistent.
We do the same for every team and we always prepare to try and win the game."
Garner on Odimayo:
"I thought he was excellent and it is a credit to how he works that he managed to get through 90 minutes after cramping up after only 30 minutes in a pre-season match.
He is very versatile in the position he plays and we have lots of versatility in defence."
Garner on injuries:
"Kaine Kesler-Hayden should be fine for tomorrow. Jordan Lyden and Mathieu Baudry aren't far away and we are pretty good on the injury front."
Garner on Salford:
"Every team is different and it is well documented they have good financial backing but once the whistle goes it is about what happens on the pitch."
Garner on attendances:
"The support has been incredible and the fact we are in the summer holidays, it has been absolutely brilliant.
The only tinge has been not getting a win at home."
Garner on departures:
"There are possibly one or two younger players we want to get out on loan.
The EFL Trophy games will give some players a chance to get minutes out and show themselves.
We will continue to assess things."
Garner on signings:
"We still have space for a few more signing s and we are working on recruitment.
Ideally I would like one more but if we can't get the right player then I won't do it. They have to be the right character that will fit what we have."
Garner on Jayden Mitchell signing:
"It's really good to get him in and he has been in rehab with us recovering from a knee injury he picked up at Derby.
He gives us a different attacking threat from midfield and he comes here hungry and has a point to prove.
Salford is a bit too soon for him but he should be involved very soon."
