PREVIEW: Gillingham v Swindon Town

Swindon need a much-improved performance against Gillingham on Tuesday to amend their poor showing at Chesterfield on Saturday.

A crucial opening-day win and a spirited loss on penalties against Championship outfit Queens Park Rangers had spirits high around the County Ground after a concerning summer, however a dishevelled display in the 3-1 loss at Chesterfield leaves Swindon needing a boost again.

It will not be easily achieved, either. Opponents Gillingham currently boast a 100% record of three wins from three in league and cup after high-profile additions such as ex-England international Paul Konchesky, Jay Emmanuel-Thomas and Jamie O'Hara in pre-season.

Along with this, the Gills are unbeaten against Swindon since a 2-0 loss at the County Ground in 2011 from the Paolo Di Canio era and the last time Town came away with all three points at Priestfield was in a Division Three match-up way back in 1986.

Luke Norris, who joined Swindon from Gillingham on August 6, will be unavailable for selection due to damaging ligaments in his ankle early on in Town's defeat at the weekend.

Swindon manager Luke Williams told the media"I would be amazed if he would be available for selection on Tuesday."

Jon Obika, too, remains out as his recovery from a groin strain continues as does Raphael Rossi Branco who has not featured in a competitive fixture yet.
