PREVIEW: NOTTS COUNTY v SWINDON TOWN

SWINDON TOWN will travel to Nott’s County for today’s EFL League Two fixture with the Robins seeking to stop the rot as they edge closer towards the relegation zone. TotalSport Swindon’s Ryan Walker previews the game ahead of kick-off.

A home defeat in their midweek match against Cambridge United saw Swindon Town slide further down the League Two table currently occupying 15th position on just 18 points.

Whilst in comparison, Notts County find themselves positioned seven places below Town having obtained six points fewer.

And with their winless streak having been extended to six games, today’s match provides Phil Brown and his squad with a realistic opportunity of victory against a side looking destined for relegation.

Only two goals between both sides in last season’s fixtures saw Town suffer a one-nil away defeat at Meadow Lane as Jon Stead scored from the penalty spot.

However, with both teams having endured a torrid start to their respective domestic campaigns, today’s match looks set to be full of entertainment as both attempt to start their climb up the table.

Two consecutive league defeats for Harry Kewell’s Notts County see the Nottingham based side come into today's game looking to get back to winning ways.

But the under-pressure Phil Brown will try to cause an upset knowing that defeat for Swindon will put his job under further scrutiny.

Having only scored one goal in their previous six games, attacking team changes are expected from Swindon with Marc Richards looking set to drop out of the starting eleven with the 37-year-old striker having only scored one goal all season.

Kaiyne Woolery will be the expected replacement as he aims to make his first league start this season.

Michael Doughty remains a doubt for Swindon with the playmaker having received stitches in his ankle following a laceration that forced him off injured against Cambridge.

And Doughty will be a big loss should Swindon be without the 25-year-old with his influence in the final third instrumental to success.

Today’s match presents an opportunity for both teams to end a disappointing run of form as they search to climb into the top half of the table. A tough game awaits but this one looks set to produce an eventual winner.

Prediction: 1-2
