This weekend's fixture, at Vale Park, is the last of Swindon's so-called relegation six-pointers which has seen them play everyone in and around the bottom four.
Only two of them, Coventry away and Gillingham at home, ended in wins though which leaves Swindon in 21st, three points adrift of safety, however 22nd-placed Port Vale, one point behind Town and four below Oldham in 20th, have a whopping three games in hand.
A 1-0 defeat at home to Chesterfield last week has put a dampener on recent impressive Swindon form that saw them get seven points from the previous nine available.
Their away record though still leaves a lot to be desired, as Luke Williams' men have only won three league games on the road all season (Oldham, Bolton and Coventry).
Port Vale cannot boast a good run themselves though as the Valiants have not lived up to their nickname, as they are winless in nine and lost the reverse fixture, at the County Ground, 1-0 with Brad Barry netting for Swindon early in the second half.
Nicky Ajose, Charlie Colkett and Fankaty Dabo, who all missed the game at the weekend, have been in training this week and are all in contention to start tomorrow.
Ben Gladwin has also trained. He came off at half-time in the Chesterfield match with an injury problem but Williams is confident he will be good-to-go tomorrow and Lloyd Jones should be fully fit again after being an unnused sub last time out.
Yaser Kasim's illness has not subsided though and Jordan Stewart and Jermaine Hylton now have the bug as well so they will miss out.
