PREVIEW: SWINDON ROBINS v KING'S LYNN STARS

SWINDON ROBINS will be put to the test on Thursday night, as Norfolk outfit King’s Lynn Stars travel to the Abbey Stadium seeking to climb the table after their poor start to the season. TotalSport Swindon’s Ryan Walker previews the mid-week clash.

Meeting each other twice already this season makes it all-square on the scoreboard with both sides recording a home victory each. However with both squads now fully settled into the season, Thursday is set-up to be an adrenaline packed night of racing.

With ten league points currently separating both team’s Premiership position, Swindon top of the table on 23 points, King’s Lynn seventh on 13 points, many would expect Thursday’s meeting to be a walkover for the Robins.

But with a strong line-up including new British Champion Robert Lambert, the travelling squad will provide a realistic threat to Swindon’s unbeaten home record so far this season.

Recording one of their biggest wins of the season so far with a 58-32 victory over the Rye House Rockets on Monday will give the Stars confidence for their trip to Swindon, and with a strong line-up that seems to have finally found some form, the Robins will need to get off to a good start.

However with a poor away record off just one away win all season, along with injuries to Australian Ty Proctor, and Danish born Kasper Anderson that keeps the duo out of the meeting, Swindon manager Alun Rossiter will be confident of seeing his side extend their lead at the top of the Premiership table.

The Swindon Robins have been impressive all season and the constant pressure of being highlighted as one of the favourites for the league seems to have had a positive effect on the reigning champions.

Nick Morris has stared to replicate his career best form of last season, but Adam Ellis will be hoping for an improvement, after admitting to TotalSport last week that his form had dipped recently.

Strong point scoring riders throughout the spine of the team is what makes Swindon such a dangerous side to face, and at home they look unbeatable. Top quality pairings in the latter heats is usually what gives the Robins the advantage over their opposition, although Rossiter will be hoping to avoid a repeat of last week’s meeting and instead have the meeting wrapped up come heat twelve.

It will be a close match-up between two sides oozing quality riders, however a Swindon win seems the most likely out of outcomes on what is sure to be a closely contested night of racing.

Outcome: Swindon win! But King’s Lynn will secure an away bonus point.
