PREVIEW: Swindon Town v Oldham Athletic

SWINDON TOWN host strugglers Oldham Athletic today as Richie Wellens' side look to secure their seventh consecutive win in League Two. Total Sport Swindon's Rajan Hothi previews the clash.

Jerry Yates' brace alongside Eoin Doyle's 18th goal of the season saw Swindon run out comfortable 3-0 winners at Grimsby last week, and today they will face a similar task in having to beat a team at the wrong end of the table once again.

Oldham currently lie in 21st spot in League Two, but they have shown signs of a revival under Dino Maamria with the Latics unbeaten in their last five league games.

They drew to Leyton Orient last week and sprung a surprise a couple of weeks ago when they beat Newport 1-0 in South Wales showing that under the former Stevenage boss, fortunes might be starting to turn.

Swindon have been ruthless against teams in the bottom half so far this season, but Richie Wellens insisted that his side will not be complacent with Oldham's experienced squad a big threat.

Following the win at Grimsby, Wellens confirmed that he will make changes to his squad during the month, and players such as Diallang Jaiyesimi, Lloyd Isgrove, Danny Rose and Keshi Anderson may be pushing for starts after time out either injured or on the bench.

Isgrove was an unused sub against Grimsby last week and the 26-year-old could return to action, following an injury sustained in October, on Saturday.

Despite being on the sidelines for over a month, Isgrove is still amongst the top assists charts in the division with five.

Wellens also stated that there was an injury to a "key player" which will rule them out for the Oldham clash, but he chose to keep the identity of the player in-house.

While the fate of Yates and Doyle remains unclear, the pair should be available for the Town's next three games and they have proved how vital they are to Wellens' system so far this season.

The duo have notched an impressive 29 goals between them this season, and have scored 28 of Swindon's 35 league goals highlighting just how important they have been to Town's success.

Swindon have struggled at home to Oldham in recent seasons, the Latics are unbeaten in their last seven trips to SN1, with Town's last win at the County Ground against Oldham coming in 2010.

However, Maamria's side have been poor on their travels this season. Oldham have picked up just two wins from their nine away games in League Two this season whilst only managing to notch eight goals in the process.

Though they will be eager to bridge a gap between them and Morecambe - who currently occupy the only relegation spot in the division.

The visit of Oldham presents the perfect chance for Swindon to carry on their momentum as they head into a difficult run of fixtures in the festive period. The Latics may be in decent form but with Town ruthless against bottom-half sides, and top of the league, Swindon should be looking to record a comfortable victory.
