PREVIEW: Swindon Town v Oxford United (EFL Trophy)
Swindon Town are sweating over the fitness of trio Lloyd Jones, Brad Barry and Michael Doughty as they go into their EFL Trophy match against fierce rivals Oxford United.
Town boss Luke Williams did not disclose a specific date for the return of Jones, Barry or Doughty, instead he just outlined that all are being monitored in one way or another.
Jones is currently nursing a hip injury, with which he has suffered in the past at parent club Liverpool while Barry and Doughty have been sidelined with a hamstring injury and appendicitis respectively.
Doughty only returned to Swindon on Monday (yesterday) as he recovers from the aforementioned appendicitis, so match time may be too much, too soon for the QPR loanee.
Matters on the pitch are not the best for the Robins either.
Since their 2-1 win over Chelsea U23s in the first round of EFL Trophy matches, they have won just once (away at Oldham, 2-0) from six games so a morale-boosting win is needed tonight (Tuesday), however the U's have come out on top in their last six matches against Swindon.
Oxford meanwhile ended a three-game winless streak on Saturday with a 2-0 win at Bolton on Saturday and they also won their opening EFL Trophy match 4-2 at home to Exeter.
As always with the new rules for the controversial EFL Trophy, a win in normal time equals three points, a loss in normal time does not earn a team any points, however if the scores are level after a 90 minutes both teams get awarded one point and a penalty shoot-out is played with the winner earning a bonus point.
