PREVIEW: Swindon Town vs Cheltenham Town

Swindon Town will have left-back Matt Taylor in charge of this weekend's local clash, as David Flitcroft's replacement will not be named until next week.

Taylor, 36, has played a key role in Swindon's promotion push this season while on the field, contributing five goals and 13 assists in all competitions, and now he has been placed in interim charge, following Flitcroft's departure to fellow League Two side Mansfield.

The interim boss could select himself at the weekend, as Cheltenham come to town, but Taylor has said he has not yet decided on whether to do that, revealing he discussed the possibility with the squad.

Another left-back, Chris Hussey, could also make his first appearance since a 2-0 win over Forest Green Rovers way back on September 22, as he has returned to training this week.

Amine Linganzi and Donal McDermott will both miss out though as they have not yet recovered from their injuries while Ollie Banks will start his three-match ban on Saturday.

Matt Preston and Dion Conroy will not play again this season.

Swindon have not placed since February 28, as last Saturday's home match against Yeovil was snowed off and that has been rescheduled for Tuesday, April 10.

They have, however won their last five home matches, which stretches back to the last home game of 2017, but lost at Chesterfield last time out.

Cheltenham had their game postponed last weekend as well, and they are without a win in three following two defeats against Lincoln and Wycombe before a draw at Luton.

The other Robins have not won away from home since January 6, when they beat Colchester 4-1 in Essex.

Swindon are ranked 18th in the League Two home table, whereas Cheltenham are 16th in the away league.

Cheltenham have the joint-second top scorer in the division in the shape of Mo Eisa, who has contributed 16 goals and four assists this season.

Swindon have a deadly striker of their own though, as Marc Richards has scored seven goals since his arrival in January and was named the League Two player of the month for February.

Taylor can guide Swindon up a place to sixth if Town win and other results go their way this weekend, as they now face an 11-game push to get into the automatic promotion places.
