The Robins last won more than one match on the bounce way back in March of 2016 when a 2-0 win over Doncaster, at the County Ground, followed a 2-1 victory away at Peterborough the week before.
At the weekend Swindon took all three points from Coventry after securing a 3-1 scoreline at the Ricoh Arena courtesy of two goals from Nicky Ajose and one from Jon Obika.
It came a week after a 0-0 draw at home to Oldham that, while disappointing, gave head coach Luke Williams and his squad optimism given that they had 26 shots on goal and largely dominated their opponents.
However, this does mean that the 3-1 over Coventry was only Swindon's first win in seven matches.
Gillingham, who are 16th in League One compared to Swindon in 22nd, are six points ahead of the Wiltshire-based side in the table but have just one win to show from their last 12 matches.
This, like Swindon though, came in their last match - against Southend at home, with the Gills getting a 2-1 win.
On the Swindon injury front, on-loan centre back Lloyd Jones limped off of the Coventry pitch on Saturday but Williams will give the Liverpool defender every possible chance to play and he will have a second scan on his hamstring today (Tuesday) after the first one indicated swelling and bleeding.
Yaser Kasim will definitely miss out though due to a problem in his ankle returning. Apart from that, there are no known injury concerns and Raphael Rossi-Branco will be available for selection again following a two-match ban.
As for Gillingham, defender Bradley Garmston will miss the match because of a hamstring injury while other doubts still need to be assessed.
One of them is Bradley Dack, with the Gills' star man also suffering from a hamstring problem. Boss Ady Pennock is hoping it is not too serious but does not have 100 per cent clarity as of yet.
Hamstring issues are plaguing the Gills at the moment as Mark Byrne is nursing one too but, like Dack, he still needs to be properly examined as does Deji Oshilaja (groin) but Chris Herd (knee) is officially ruled out.
Rory Donnelly, who scored in the 1-1 draw between the two sides this season at Priestfield, will also be staying at home as a twisted ankle was worsened by Southend's Ryan Innis flooring him on Saturday.
Swindon's recent run against the Kent outfit is not one to look back on with much fondness, as Town have not picked up all three points against this evening's opponents since a 2-0 win back in 2011 under Paolo Di Canio's stewardship.
It means Gillingham are unbeaten against Swindon in their last eight matches.
