PREVIEW: Swindon Town vs Sheffield United

Swindon Town welcome top-of-the-table Sheffield United to the County Ground tonight (Tuesday, 19:45 kick-off) in the hope of causing a minor dent to the Blades' title challenge.

Sheffield United are currently eight points clear at the summit of League One but Swindon are at the other end of the spectrum - fighting for their lives to avoid leaving the division in the wrong way.

After a brief uplift in form during last month, where they got seven points from a possible nine, the Robins are back to square one as they now need to recover from the latest set of back-to-back defeats.

A 1-0 loss in their last home match, against Chesterfield, was followed up by a 3-2 reverse at Port Vale on Saturday which leaves Swindon in 22nd, four points behind Oldham who occupy 20th, and therefore safety.

Town will be without Bradley Barry, who was sent off in the closing stages of the weekend's match, however, according to the FA suspension website, Barry is only banned for the one game - tonight.

That could lead to Chelsea loanee Fankaty Dabo making a return to the squad for the first time since Valentine's Day.

Dabo has had battles with the loan quota, which only allows Swindon to name five of their seven on-loan players in their matchday 18, as well as injury with Dabo picking up a hamstring problem in a behind-closed-doors friendly against the Daniel Sturridge academy a few weeks back.

Elsewhere on the injury front, Lloyd Jones is expected to be fully fit after being an unnused sub in the last two matches while Yaser Kasim, Jordan Stewart and Jermaine Hylton are still plagued with an illness.

Head coach Luke Williams revealed on Saturday that goalkeeper, and leading player-of-the-season contender, Lawrence Vigouroux has been battling on in goal with a broken thumb recently but, according to Williams, that is now on the mend. Whether he will be risked on Tuesday is another, less clarified, matter.

Sheffield United could welcome back Middlesbrough loanee Harry Chapman tonight. The highly-rated 19-year-old has been ruled out with an ankle injury since December but may be given the nod by his manager, Chris Wilder.

Jake Wright and Chris Duffy, meanwhile, will both be assessed and striker Billy Sharp will be seeking to notch his 200th career goal tonight - he is currently on 198.

League leaders Sheffield United are unbeaten in four matches against Swindon, with the last defeat being the 2-1 at Bramall Lane in the first leg of the 2015 play-offs that saw a 5-5 draw in the second leg that will live in the memory of both sets of supporters forever. This season, United won 4-0 at home in the reverse fixture.
