Resurgent Robins benefited from a break
Swindon Robins speedway boss Alun Rossiter has heaped praise on his Blunsdon side, after they recently got back to winning ways for the first home victory in three meetings.
Total Sport caught up with Rossiter following last week's impressive 52 - 41 victory over playoff rivals Lakeside Hammers, to get the boss' recent thoughts.
A racing break of over two weeks for the Robins due rain canccellations meant that the Swindon riders were extremely eager to get back out on their bikes. And manager Rossiter insisted he was delighted with the win.
Rossiter admitted the feeling of getting a win back on the board was a good one.
The boss told Total Sport: "We finished with an away win at Leicester before the break so that was pretty good.
“Lakeside was an important win and I’m glad we made sure they walked away without any points,” he said.
A couple of bike problems for Swindon riders at the start of the Lakeside meet threatened to make things difficult for the squad but overall Rossiter reflected on that was a near perfect team performance.
“It was the perfect performance from everybody," explained Rossiter.
"I was really pleased with everyone, they all did their bit and chipped in with important points.
“We just have to keep this consistency going now and can’t afford to slip up," he added.
With new rules being introduced for the 2016 Elite League season, meaning reserves can work their way into the main body of the team, numerous shakeups in team positioning have occurred for Rossiter's Robins.
The recent Lakeside encounter however saw everyone back in their starting positions and, returning to a measure of consistency, Rossiter was happy to see things back to normal.
“It’s good to see things back to the way they were at the start of the season," he said.
“I think Nick [Morris] and Josh [Grajczonek] compliment each other really well when racing together.
“ Hopefully that’s something we can keep together for the rest of the year," Rossiter added.
Swindon Robins are back in action this Friday, July 1, against Coventry Bees, before the home fixtures against the Bees on Monday July 4, broadcast live from the Abbey from the Sky Sports cameras.
