Rider Ratings: Swindon Robins 50-40 King's Lynn Stars

The Swindon Robins put on a 5-star speedway showcase at the Abbey Stadium last night as Alun Rossiter's side bounced back to winning ways with an impressive 5-40 victory over the King's Lynn Stars. Total Sport Swindon's Ryan Walker gives his Robins rider ratings following the action.

1.Jason Doyle © (8.5)

Gated well from the outside in his first heat and appeared to get the drop on Lambert before the Brit worked his way through down the back straight. Doyle was then taken wide by Palm Toft and couldn’t get amongst the points despite chasing hard.

Provided the perfect response to set a new lap record of 60.3s in his next ride and power Swindon to a six-point lead. Ended his evening with five straight wins to score 15 points. A perfect evening bar one minor blimp.

2. David Bellego (7)

Since returning to the Abbey Stadium in place of the injured Tobiasz Musielak, David Bellego has made a good case for a permanent stay in Swindon kevlars. He flew out the gates in his first race and never looked back to take the opening win.

Fought well with Cook in heat six but couldn’t get the better of the Englishman and had to settle for third place. Timed his start to perfection in his next ride and took the win easily ahead of Simon Lambert and Palm Toft, before finishing his evening with a third place in heat fifteen. A solid evening for the Frenchman.

3. Rasmus Jensen (7.5)

Swindon’s super Dane was at it again with some fantastic racing on his home track. Did well to get past Kerr in his first ride of the night and looked set for third before Ellis went pear-shaped heading into the final corner and Jensen came through for second place.

Was like a rocket out the gate in his next heat and never looked back as he held off GB star Lambert to take the win. Third in his next outing but ended his night with an extremely quick-looking victory in heat 12. Scored nine points in total.

4. Adam Ellis (6)

Has endured some mix performances of late and scored just six points on a competitive evening. Used the second bend as a slingshot to catapult himself past Kerr in heat three before taking on Erik Riss but could only finish third behind his teammate Jensen.

Battled hard with Lambert in heat five only for the GP star to work his way up the inside on lap three. Took one point to keep Swindon in front. Excluded in heat 9 after moving at the start and receiving his second warning of the evening. Bounced back to win heat fourteen and guarantee Swindon victory.

5. Troy Batchelor (8.5)

We highlighted Troy Batchelor as the key rider heading into tonight’s meeting and he certainly didn’t let us down with another rider-of-the-night performance. Displayed some brilliant team riding to absorb the pressure of Craig Cook whilst Vissing hit the front in heat four. Eventually overtook his teammate on the final lap to take first.

Replicated the same form to hit the front from the gate in his next ride and looked like a man enjoying his racing as he took the chequered flag. Exercised sensational speed to pass Robert Lambert going down back straight in heat 13 and help earn Swindon yet another 5-1 heat maximum. Was only beaten once all evening as the Robins rode to a big league victory.

6. Ellis Perks (7)

An impressive evening for the Swindon reserve saw Perks score 4+1 with some impressive rides. Was pushed out wide by Lewis Kerr in the first corner of his opening ride after gating well and finished second. Chased Simon Lambert for a lap in his next outing before overtaking the Lynn rider going into the third corner. Improved in his next outing to join Batchelor for a 5-1 maximum in heat seven and looked confident on his machinery all evening.

7.Claus Vissing (4.5)

Making his debut for the club after being brought in to replace the injured Stefan Nielsen saw Vissing perform some impressive racing despite not scoring highly. Went through the tapes in his first ride and had to go off 15m. Recovered well to take third spot but fell of his own accord on the final lap as Lynn recorded their first heat win.

Responded superbly in his next outing to finish ahead of Cook and earn Swindon their first 5-1 heat maximum. A good first performance in Swindon ?colours.
