RIDER RATINGS: Swindon Robins (53) v (37) Poole Pirates

SWINDON ROBINS made a strong statement to their title rivals with a show-stopping 55-37 home victory over league leaders the Poole Pirates earlier this evening. Total Sport Swindon's Ryan Walker gives his Robins rider ratings on what was another show-stopping evening of speedway.

1.) Jason Doyle (C) (9)

Produced a captains performance to help spearhead Swindon to victory by banging in 11 points from four rides. Bagged Swindon their first 5-1 maximum in the evenings opening heat after partnering Adam Ellis to finish ahead of Poole’s Jack Holder and Nico Covatti. Looked fast all evening and his perfectly timed gating ensured Swindon took big points when the meeting required it. All but put the meeting to bed taking another heat maximum in his third ride of the evening before rounding off his night with another three points in heat thirteen. A fantastic performance from the skipper.

2.) Adam Ellis (8.5)

A mixed season has seen Adam Ellis struggle for consistency in some meetings but tonight the British racer put on arguably his best performance of the season scoring 8+3 and picking up the rider of the night award. Partnered Doyle to earn Swindon a maximum in heat one before backing up his opening performance with a strong ride in heat six to overtake Covatti round the outside going down the back straight. Ellis seems to have built a strong partnership with Doyle and this will be key if Swindon are to make the playoffs.

3.) Rasmus Jensen (9.5)

Having been nothing short of sensational since arriving at Swindon, Rasmus Jensen dropped just one point all evening, scoring 13+1 from five rides. With the track at its best, Swindon’s Danish ace produced a show-stopping performance with his daring overtakes once again producing gasps of excitement from the onlooking crowd. Put on a real show in the evenings final heat after battling hard with Grajczonek before taking the chequered flag.

4.) Tobiasz Musielak (7)

Struggled in his first ride after chasing hard but to no avail as he finished last behind Klindt and Grajczonek. Bounced back in perfect fashion in his next outing by firing out of the gates to partner Jensen to Swindon’s second heat maximum of the evening. Finished with a total of 7+1 but Musielak can be proud of his performance against the league leaders. The Pole has established himself as a fan favourite at the Abbey Stadium and long may it continue as Swindon challenge for another league title.

5.) Troy Batchelor (7)

Troy Batchelor has been Mr Reliable for Swindon this season with the Australians high-point scoring form often the difference for the Robins. Tonight, Batchelor was key in helping guide Swindon to victory, despite not scoring the usual points he has come to expect from himself. The Aussie ace did what was required tonight and his ability to score in every heat went a long way to Swindon earning yet another home victory. Batchelor has been in great form all season and the former GP rider will be a big part of Swindon’s title charge.

6.) Ellis Perks (6.5)

A brave evening of racing saw Ellis Perks score 4+1, but the Swindon reserve certainly deserved a lot more with his hard riding acting as a reminder to those who question his position in the team. A brilliant opening ride saw Perks fly up the inside of Ricky Wells to take all three points as the Robins got off to a flying start. Scored two points from his remaining rides but Perks can look back fondly on his evening after struggling earlier in the week.

7.) Claus Vissing (2.5)

Vissing tried hard all evening but once again lacked the speed required to make a significant impact on the scoreline. There is no doubt that Vissing gives his all when riding in Swindon kevlars, but as the playoffs loom closer, Rossiter may be forced into opting for a change at reserve.
