Rider ratings: Swindon Robins v Leicester

SWINDON ROBINS dominated proceedings at the Abbey Stadium as they secured a massive 55-35 win over the Leicester Lions to move back to the top of the SGB Premiership table. TotalSport Swindon’s Ryan Walker gives his Robins rider ratings following the action.

SWINDON 55:
Zach Wajtknecht 11+2, Tobiasz Musielak 10+2, Adam Ellis 10, David Bellego 9, Troy Batchelor 8+3, Nick Morris 7, Jack Smith 0.

LEICESTER 35:
Hans Andersen 12, Scott Nicholls 10+1, David Howe 8, Charles Wright 3, Connor Mountain 1+1, Ricky Wells 1, Stuart Robson 0.

1.    Troy Batchelor (8)

His move to the number one position brought with it a lot of expectations from the Swindon fans, and in a must-win meeting, Batchelor delivered. Scoring 11+3 from five rides, the Australian raced hard on the outside line to put in a fantastic performance and help Swindon to victory.

2.    David Bellego (7)

A night of mixed emotions saw Bellego start with just three points from his opening two rides before going on to win his last two heats. Has settled into the number two role well and has continued to form a deadly partnership with Batchelor with the pair looking unstoppable at times.

3.    Adam Ellis (8)

Since moving into the number three heat leader role Adam Ellis has been in scintillating form. Wednesday night was no different and the British racer was brilliant out the gates to fire him to the front in most races. A big improvement from the start of the season and Ellis appears to have finally found consistency in his racing.

4.    Tobiasz Musielak (9)

Scored a paid twelve points to make himself the Robins rider of the night after putting in another brilliant performance for Swindon.  His determination to succeed is an example to other riders as Musielak didn’t complain about track conditions and instead got on with his racing. Hands down the best number four in the league.

5.    Nick Morris © (7)

His first night back in Swindon colours was a relatively successful evening of racing for the Swindon skipper. Track conditions didn’t help the confidence levels of Morris as he went into his first race but he quickly found his pace and put on the race of the night as he battled it out with Hans Andersen in heat eleven. Great to see the Australian back on the bike and he now has a big part to play in Swindon’s playoff push.

6.    Zach Wajtknecht (10)

The perfect performance from young Zach Wajtknecht as the Bristol-born rider raced to a paid maximum thirteen points. Never looked unfazed and his bike was dialled into the track from the start as the youngster once again demonstrated his talent. Perhaps the most important rider for Swindon and it’s great to see Zach back racing in Swindon colours.

7.    Jack Smith (0)

The one thing you can’t fault is the effort of Jack Smith, however after failing to score it’s clear that Rossiter needs to find a replacement in reserve before it’s too late.
