Rossiter calls for Robins to fly out of the blocks

Swindon boss Alun Rossiter says his side are desperate to get their 2016 home campaign off to a flying start when they host Coventry at The Abbey on Thursday, race start 7.30.

The M&S Van Rental Robins suffered a heavy 61-31 defeat at reigning Champions Poole last week in a season opener to forget.

But Rossiter is calling on his team for a quick response as they go in search of their first Elite League points of the season.

He said: “A few of the boys were annoyed with themselves after the Poole meeting and they’re desperate to prove a point and show it was just one of those days.

“Everyone was very disappointed with our performance on Friday but that’s behind us now and we have to look towards the rest of the season.

“We certainly need to improve and we will need to be much better away from the tapes against Coventry.

“I want to see a good show of character from the boys and a good response by picking up a solid home win.

“Coventry have got some capable riders so it’s up to our boys to go out there, do the job and get our first points on the board.”

Swindon will be at full strength while Coventry have two guests in their line-up. Former Robin Hans Andersen comes in at No.1, replacing Krzysztof Kasprzak who has a Polish commitment to fulfil, while Poole star Adam Ellis guests at reserve for Josh Bates who is on Premier League duty with Sheffield.

SWINDON: Jason Doyle, Justin Sedgmen, Josh Grajczonek, Rohan Tungate, Nick Morris, Stefan Nielsen, Charles Wright.

COVENTRY: Hans Andersen, Jason Garrity, Danny King, Kacper Woryna, Chris Harris, James Sarjeant, Adam Ellis.
