“Yeh I’d say it was [our perfect performance],” said Rossiter.
“I was surprised that the margin in the victory was so big.
“I didn’t expect that and you have to give our boys credit for that.
“We didn’t give them a chance and even when they got a couple of points we reacted to them.
“We got a fantastic start to the meeting, similar to what happened to us at King’s Lynn, and you can’t afford to give everyone a big start,” he said.
Belle Vue looked like a difficult opposition coming into the meeting with Mark Lemon’s side occupying second place in the SGB league standings. But Rossiter explained following the meeting how his side must be humble in victory despite the emphatic result.
“Anyone can have a good meeting, and any team can also have a bad meeting,” said Rossiter.
“I’m sure Belle Vue will dust themselves down but I don’t want to use words such as ‘thrashing’ to describe the victory.
“You’ve got to be humble and sometimes things don’t work out for you.
“We’ve got to give the boys praise for the way they rode,” he added.
Swindon’s strong performance was made sweeter for the fans after the paying punters were given fifteen heats of stunning speedway with each race offering overtakes and hard racing. Something which Rossiter said is down to the fantastic new track at the Abbey Stadium.
“It’s been no secret that we’ve struggled with the track for many years and it’s always been a problem,” stated Rossiter.
“The new track is creating some fantastic raise, making some wonderful racing lines, and producing probably the best racing we’ve seen in years.
“The new track is the best thing that could happen. It’s made the racing better and I can’t believe how much passing there now is,” he said.
“On the old track you’d barely see one or two passes, and that’s not down to the old track, it’s down to the development of the speedway bikes.
“People forget how far bikes have moved on since the old track was made in 1949, and now we have a fantastic new track,” he added.
