Rossiter praises team strength as Robins overpower King's Lynn

A great night of racing at the Abbey Stadium saw the Swindon Robins race back to the top of the British Elite League table with a resounding 55-38 win over the King’s Lynn Stars. Total Sport’s Ryan Walker was on hand to get the reaction of Swindon manager Alun Rossiter’s reaction following an electric night of racing.

Victory over the King’s Lynn Stars see’s Rossiter’s Robins earn their fifth straight win, and the boss couldn’t be happier with the way things went on the night.

“It’s great to win tonight and that’s all I’m interested in,” Rossiter began.

“With regards to league position, it’s nice to be at the top but there is still a long way to go yet this year.

“We just have to keep piling on the points," he said.

A night of racing which saw both teams take the lead at various points made for some great racing, but Rossiter admits that the difference on the night was that his team were just the better riders.

“I think we are a lot stronger than King’s Lynn, especially tonight,” Rossiter said.

“They’ve got Niels Iversen, Mads Korneliussen, Troy Batchelor and Robert Lambert.

“But I think we have more strength all the way through the squad which is why I built the team like this. He added.

Five wins on the bounce has helped built huge amounts of momentum and confidence within the Swindon camp, and Rossiter agrees that this is something which massively helps his riders.

“It’s great to get those five wins and we just have to keep the momentum going," said Rossiter.

“We are always talking and always helping one another and we just have to keep doing what we’re doing.

“All the boys are getting on with another great as well which is always good to see.

“Unfortunately though Charles [Wright] is really down on his confidence at the moment. He spent a lot of money on his engine and he’s really gotten down about it so if there is anyone out there that could help Charles out then it would be massively appreciated," he stated.

With new rules being introduced by the BSPA at the start of the year allowing riders to change position in the team throughout the course of the season depending on averages, Swindon have already had their squad layout changed five times. And Rossiter admits that the constant changes are more of a hindrance than a help to him and his team.

“I don’t like the chopping and changing that keeps taking place with this new rule being introduced,” Rossiter admitted.

“It’s sometimes good for the guys who go down to reserve as it takes some pressure off of them but it’s not ideal and certainly isn’t perfect.”
